I would appreciate any feedback from 456 or 456M owners ... I own a Mondial convertable and am looking for a solid GT car that has already experienced depreciation. Forza seems to like the car and I have heard good things about the V12 ... any thoughts from owners would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks - JJJ

I love the 456-- it is a wonderful touring car. I traded my 3.2 Mondial Cab in on the 456, and I've never looked back!

More and more, I have been using the 456 as a daily driver, and it has handled that role well also.

Regarding value, 75-90K is out of the market for a '95 car. For an extremely nice, low mileage, major service done, complete records, 70-75K is all the money.

It's hands down the best Ferrari value today.

I'd say $75-85k is the range for a very nice 1995. Color, condition and the major service recently done are important factors in the price. I would not have a problem seeing a Black/Black 1995 with 15,000 miles with a recent belt service selling for $85k. A Red/Tan 1995 with 40,000 miles in need of servicing would be a $65-75k car. If you want to go lower, look at the later GTAs, I've seen some of these in the $50k range. I've heard that the auto transmission is expensive to repair or replace, therefore, the values reflect that.

75k seems like a lot for a 95 unless it was a SUPER nice car with VERY low miles, fresh belts, ad nauseum.

I've seen later 456s with low miles do well under 100k wholesale.. like 80s.. and I mean 99s... how much can retail markup be? $10K?

70 to 75k and closer to 75Kis where most dealers/independents are selling their 95 456's with average mileage (20kish) and in good condition from what I am seeing.

I really like mine, a 99 with 20,000 miles. In the current News Bulletin of the Ferrari Club of America are two, a 1995 w/ 27,000 miles for 79,500 and a 1999 m w/ 50,000 miles for 75,000.
Be sure to get a pre purchase inspection and note that the maintenance is up to date.
    Good luck,
    Winston

You may not have a problem seeing a '95 456 for 85K however, are YOU going to buy it? Regardless of how nice it is that would be a home run with a man on 1st. 2nd. AND 3rd. for the seller!

    I own a 1995 456GT... and love it.
    Check this thread:

To answer your question, it is worth whatever you think it is worth to you to have that car. If that particular car color/mileage/style combination is unique to you, then $75-85k is not much to ask. However, stateside, I've seen '95 model GT's go for as low as mid to high 60's and as high as 80-85k. I would just be careful and do a very careful PPI. Some required mod's aka water hose fix, majors, window updates, etc... shouldn't be overlooked.

    Good luck,
    Byron

A few more details...Grigio Ingrid with Natural, (dark tan) including upper dash and rare, (in the 456) Daytona seats. Two local LA owners with complete history from new. Car is absolutely immaculate and has been fully inspected by FBH.

I havent been paying that close attention to 456s and know a lot less about them...

    But a 95 with 20k is worth $75k and an 01 with 15k is worth $90k?

Is there something preferable about earlier cars?

Nope. Everyone says the later cars are better.

If you want a solid GT for half the price of a 456, get a 412...

    I like 412s.. but somehow I think a 456 is a better choice as a semi-daily (15k/miles/year) driver... correct?

One of the voices in my headis convincing me that I'll end up with another 550 anyhoo....

Why? I used my 365 as a 2-3 times per week daily driver. Never left me stranded.

Good point. I did the same with my 348.. still was my favorite of them all. It'd be nice to have something a tad more confrtable than the 550 for driving.. especially in the NYC Area. If I could find a MANUAL 412 I'd be tempted.

They are out there. Ask your local dealer if they know of any available. You might have to kick over a few rocks, but you'll find one sooner or later.

this is close to the true prices...a 95 for over 80k is crazy.....our local d car dealer had a 10k milage 2000, asking 98k, and there asking prices are way too high...that car could be bought for the mid 80s.....i would say 65-70k max for a 95....dont look at the asking prices...esp on the fml, the ferrari club classified, dupont and even e bay.....some sellers are living in fantasy land or just waiting for that one sucker.....look at the 360 spider asking prices...some are asking 30-50k over wholesale!!!!

Early vs. late: Most 456Ms were automatics, as were most 97 456GTs. The automatics, IMO, are less desirable and will continue to become less and less desirable in comparison with the manuals.

Apples to apples, a 456M manual doesn't offer many advantages over a 456GT manual, with the exception that newer is generally a bit better. Some people, including myself, prefer the 456GT styling with the reverse hood scoops. However, the updated Motronic in the 456M is an advantage.

So, I would predict that 456GT and 456M prices will get closer as time goes by.

Sounds like it is highly reliable, alll fun (which matters in the Fcar universe) and represents some real "value." I think the hardest thing is going to be finding a clean one with good colors ... glad to hear any and all feedback on who/where used versions are available (all years work prior to 2000 - apologies, but no auto boxes, in my universe Fcars reresent the pinnacle of feel ... a series of perfect shifts can make my month)!

Second note is this might be the greates sight for Fcar fanatics ... I am certainly one, and have never visited before - but am now a little addicted. You guys rock, thanks for the 456/Ferrari chat tutorial and hopefully I will see Y'all on the road (or track) one day!

My Ferrari philosopy is that I am lucky enough to take care of them for their next owners ...
