This is my 2nd 456 that I have owned and both have had the steering column get tacky. It is very annoying when you get in the car and your knees get this black crap all over them and it won't wash out! I have talked to the Dealer and there is no fix apparently. The car is stored under cover so it is not out in the sun, but I do live in Florida so is it the heat that causes this? And has anyone figured out a fix? Can you replace it?

The only fix I'm aware of is to strip the rubber coating and re-paint the component. Check the 355 section, those guys have a dissolving-interior problem as well and many have posted methods for the strip-and-recoat solution.

Mine is sticky also, but just on the top where it doesn't really matter.

Ok, I will check that other post. I am glad there is at least some type of fix out there.

No. The fix is far simpler. Go to Home Depot. Get "Goof off." Apply to a rag and wipe. Viola. Takes ten minutes. Expect to use multiple rags. The hard rubber is degrading and acting against itself. Unless you knock it off it will only get worse.
