Not my car or anyone's I know. Blue over tan, 20,xxx miles, claimed to have received a major in July 2017. But a few odd things like chromed wheels (ugh) and a seemingly compromised passenger-side window seal (looks pinched in the photos provided). Interior seems generally well-kept, with the obligatory bubbling HVAC panel overlay and a few other minor quirks. Ah, and totally underwhelming photography taken in the back lot at Ferrari of Denver: seriously, this car is going to Mecum with pictures taken next to a pile of discarded tires? I don't get it. https://www.mecum.com/lots/LN1117-320194/1995-ferrari-456-gt-coupe/
Anyone know what color this is? I’ve not seen this on a 456 before. Perhaps a fresh paint job? Looks nice either way. The passenger seatbelt also looks to be bleached from the sun... perhaps it’s just the photo, but I’d be curious if the seats/interior is dried out given this. No detailed pics of dash to assess shrinkage, but something to look out for as well. The car does not seem to be in FoD’s inventory, unfortunately. The background does leave a lot to be desired! By no means am I an expert on the 456 but I have been tracking prices, both asking and selling, for the past 3-4 yrs. My opinion is that a MANUAL V-12 Ferrari at $80k a great result for the buyer. Well bought. And yes, I'm aware that this is a '95 when all(!) 456s were manual (if I recall correctly the GTA was introduced in '97, maybe '98). Who cares?!! It still a v-12 manual!! I would think that the pre-GTA 456s will soon break the $100k barrier. Good luck to anyone who can find a 456M manual here in the US for less than a $100k now!! In Europe a very different story I know. Keep in mind too that the car appeared to be relatively well cared for, and with a recent service and a history. Desirable color too (I love any blue on the 456!!)
It doesn’t appear to have actually sold at the auction unless someone has confirmed it sold after the sale. https://www.mecum.com/lots/LN1117-320194/1995-ferrari-456-gt-coupe/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry, not sure I follow where the $80K came from... was this the max bid and it didn’t make reserve? Ruben
When you log into Mecum it shows the price as $80,000, but the car didn't sell so, for what it is worth, I assume that was the high bid.
This car evidently didn’t sell as Ferrari of Denver has now listed the car on their site for just under $127k http://fblod.com/showroom/inventory/ferrari-456-gt-zffsp44a7s0103760/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is a fair amount of work to the windows and interior from what I can tell—that could explain the major price adjustment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My .02 is that the dealer simply misread the market, in this regard perhaps only noting the auction results for the 456M manual cars. This car is a pre-M model (actually a pre-GTA model, ALL '95 and '96 456's were manual). And as has been noted before in this forum 'M' manuals are quite/very rare here in the US- in the last 2-3 years I've only seen 3-5 for sale- accordingly when they "hit" the market they command, and get, big money (+100 grand). Equally optioned (and in similar condition) 'M' GTA's still languish with asking(!!) prices in the 60's (I imagine 'selling' prices quite possibly are in the high 50's).
There were no US MY96 456 GTs (or GTAs). Took Ferrari a while to meet the OBDII standard required in the US for 1 January 1996 with the V12, eventually met by incorporating Motronic 5.2. The big seller F355 got the priority and they were ready for MY96 with 5.2.
To me the top for US based M Gt cars should be about 100. You can buy them in Europe right now for 80, and that's the asking price. Even if it's 20 to get them back, why pay more?
The US "market" says higher than 100k for manual M's. Look at recent "sell" prices, 100k would be on the low end (even "private" sales are over 100k). Admittedly there are not of sales to go by as the number of manual M's are so linited in the US, and herein lies the "answer" to the delta between ask/sell prices on "the continent" vs here in the US. F-chatter puckybadger where are you (purchased a M manual in early 2016)?
