I have a newer stereo fitted into my car also. I never use it either and I was lucky enough to find a genuine Clarion cassette player/radio on Ebay to put back into my car.

Haven't fitted it yet mind you, too busy with everything else.

No blank plate, no problem..............perhaps have Elliott remove his again and take some measurements for you.

Have one made and then covered in leather. Would be VERY VERY easy to make it and have it covered in black leather man.

As PAP said the blanking plate could be reproduced. Its an alloy sheet, with foam and leather covering. It has 3 metal tabs that act as hooks against the inside of the radio surround. It clips into place, the centre plastic clip I assumed was to hold the radio wire to stop is dangling around and rattling.

    Elliott,

I'm thinking about doing the same. Would you mind sharing how you got the old Hill HVAC overlay off without harming either it or the clear substrate under it and what you used to clean off the old adhesive without hurting the knobs?

I just pulled it off, the Hill overlay was on there for about 10 months. It left sticky residue on the clear HVAC panel so I removed it and just rubbed it off with my thumb. It comes off very easily once warm into little rubber like balls. Then I used a little dishwashing soap and water to lubricate the surface and installed the new overlay on the slippery surface to line it up perfect. Once dry it sets and its stuck in place.

I had a squeaky accelerator pedal so I thought I'd get to the throttle linkage and oil the components plus clean out the area.

Whilst I was down there I noticed the pedals had 20 years of dirt embedded in them so I removed the beautiful pieces for a clean up, glad I did they came up great.

I also took the opportunity to clean and paint the throttle pedal surround. I did not have any semi gloss black left so I painted it gloss black and top coated in a semi gloss clear. It is a touch too shiny for me but a lot better then it was before. I had to sand a few marks out of it to clean it up before paint.

The kick plate was previously polished up.

A quick vacuum and some lines applied to the lower door card's carpet.

Glad you got rid of the side shields, can't stand them. I have a 328 GTS and it really irks me when I see them on non limited or race versions.

Also have the original Pioneer radio put in by the dealer- SVM in Sydney in 1989 in the car but never use it.

Would have loved it if the car came with a factory blanking plate like yours.

    Your car looks stunning.

Also I really love that SVM sticker on the rear window. Since my car came out of there originally do you have any contacts that could get me one of those? Happy to pay for sticker, postage, etc.

They do a raised plastic SVM version currently but would rather the standard sticker like yours.

    Cheers

Hi Rosey, thanks for the kind words. I'm very glad I have the original dealer sticker on the rear window too. It is something I have been meaning to reproduce and also possibly number plate surrounds.

I will take photos of it and get the dimensions. Give me some time and I can probably get them made. Otherwise happy to send you the pictures with dimensions for your own use.

It really sets off the car I think those little details.

I have fond memories of SVM here is a pic of me at SVM Bourke St service dept. circa 2001. Good times

Thanks for that buddy. No stress, happy to wait till you reproduce them and also happy to contribute to the cost. I'm actually in Melbourne but i'm sure our paths will cross one day. I feel we both have a lot in common when it comes to preparing cars for state concourse events.

    Some updates:

Removed the wheels and got around to installing 4 new centre caps. These are the period correct colour, I dislike the newer style darker yellow version from the newer cars, it looks wrong on the older makes.

The 95 has different caps, they are secured with a rubber o-ring and a cir-clip on the back side. The originals were in still good condition just slight fading. Bottom picture shows left new and right the older one.

Took the car on a road trip to the state it originally was delivered and from where I purchased the vehicle a little over a year ago. It was great to do the 650 km round trip meet some old faces and some new ones. I attended Auto Italia a celebration of all things Italian, where some 60 odd Ferrari's were in attendance.

Another cool thing was meeting the new owner of my old concours winning 2004 360 spider. It was great to know where the car is and how much he is enjoying it.

Tubi headers should be leaving Italy today after a 1 month lead time, so they should arrive in the next week. I have purchased all new hardware, gaskets and donut rings to freshen up the entire exhaust system.

I also made the decision to go all out and get the Capristo bypass valve. I received it yesterday and I'm already happy with the outlay, the build quality is exceptional and the movement is super smooth. I look forward to hearing it snap open on the bypass activation now!

Ordered a oil change kit and new fuel filter to do a minor annual service on the car which is due in June.

Next update should be the arrival of my shiny new Tubi headers.

Have to say I like your style! Love seeing all the new hardware, this car is getting the kind of attention all F355's deserve.

Where did you source the early center caps? I need to replace mine as well.

Thanks and I agree James, at 21 years and now these cars are needing this sort of attention to get another 20 years of enjoyment.

The caps I sourced from Superperformance UK.

Excellent attention to detail Elliott, appreciate seeing all these pics mate. :)

Good to see you caught up with the new owner of your old 360. He does look very happy indeed.

Fellow Mount Isa FChatter Eurospec was there at Auto Italia selling model cars with his Brother.

Not too sure if you came across their model stall, but I will ask him if he saw your 355. He and his Brother absolutely love the 355, so I reckon they would have had a good look at yours.

Take care and talk soon mate. :)
