Sheehan has an F40 LM GTE that "was never actively raced". Curious what "actively" means. Asking 750K. What do you guys think of the price?
I think I need to find $750K. I've been in a "normal" F40 and the acceleration was mind boggling. I spent two years racing a Cosworth DFV powered F1 car and in truth, the acceleration in the F40 (thanks to the turbos) was more memorable. I can only imagine what an F40 LM GTE is like. Let's hope whoever buys the car has the skills to match the wallet.
That wouldn't be street legal, right? If it is street legal... there could be some great fun to be had
Here's a link: http://ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-F40-85015 Beautiful car... now I just need to find that spare $750k!
Well usually no, but here's the thing... check the detailed history car and it originally came into the US as a 1990 US Spec street f40. was upgraded in 1995. I'll bet you can get plates for it (in a state with no inspection) History below copied from sheehan site: S/n 85015. Originally a U.S. Version F40. 1995, updated by Michelotto as a 1994–95 spec F40 LM GTE. Specifications identical to F40 LM GTE s/n 88779. 1990, 07 Aug., first service at Wide World of Cars. 1994, February, shown during the Cavallino Classic III event in Palm Beach, FL. 1994–95, shipped back to Michelotto to become a F40 LM GTE. 1995, May, delivered to Wide World of Cars, USA. Michelotto F40 LM GTE build number 4. 1995, 08 Apr., as per build sheet from Michelotto, completed to F40 LM GTE specifications, more or less the same specifications as F40 LM GTE s/n 88779. Chassis reinforced with carbon inserts and extra cross bracing, stiffer anti–roll bars, LM spec brakes and wheels. 800 hp unrestricted tipo F120 B GTE 3.0 litre engine. 1996, Ferrari Club of America National Meet Concours, Watkins Glen, NY, won Platinum class award. 1999, 23 Jan., Cavallino Classic Ferrari VIII, Palm Beach, FL. Red/red cloth. 2000, 22 Jan., Cavallino Ferrari Classic IX, Palm Beach, Florida. 2006, Fully serviced and race–ready. 2006, March, on consignment with Mike Sheehan’s www.Ferraris-online.com.
Amenasce and 410SA, great minds think alike! Is that a realistic price? Since it started life as a street car, Do you think it can be tagged?
Not presumption at all. Money does not make one incapable of driving a race car. Typically money and talent have an inverse relationship in motor racing. For me it seems the more money I make, the slower I get...
Sheehans cars also usually seem to be priced appropriately... I guess the GTE cars command a big premium over a straight F40LM...
And he's wiped out once or twice, too. Would guess the car's priced right (what's the market on the other five?!). Though may seem really well-priced down the road. Speaking of, putting that thing on the road might be at least a little action-packed. Would have to know your route w/this one, most likely - stock Forty has Humvee clearance as compared. Has a U.S. VIN, though, so the bump at the end of your driveway might be the biggest hurdle?
It looks like the car is in Australia. How does one do a PPI? Who would pay for shipping and customs clearance etc? This car could be a whole lot more money than the asking price....
see what? It only states that it was an original F40 converted to a GTE.. that doesn't really answer my question. Because I thought all GTEs are supposed to have sequential gearboxes...
