Agreed Robb, some keen eyes out there. My two pence worth is that the showcar was to canvass interest in whether or not to go ahead. I would think that any limited production would probably have had the fixed lights, as you said previously....Michelotto already had these available from the 348Gt LM and there are a few 355's that competed with these too. 99623 springs to mind at Le Mans 95 and 96 with Yellow Racing and if memory serves me well, didn't Tony Ring race a white one in the BPR series?
pop-up lights is correct at per original competizione. Indeed the drawing / factory sheet is not representative of the show car in 1995.
As a potential GT racing programme, maybe the dismal results at Le Mans in 95/96 (granted, with a private self built entry) with failure to pre-qualify showed that maybe the package, at the price being asked, was not a viable competitive proposition? And at this time, there was considerable effort being put into the F40GTE and 333SP programmes..
Thank you for the picture. Years of curiosity has finally ended . I never was a fan of the fixed headlamps. The 355 looks gorgeous in that stance w/ centerlock speedlines. I can't believe that was 1995.
well done guys, togehter we made it. I never thought that ist the same car, but now we know it. Here are some Details of the Comp. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah. Very interesting. Where is the source for this? The picture describes the car to have a kerb weight of 2986 lbs. Most other literature of the car has it at 1100 kgs (2425 lbs), which is quite impressive. Not sure which one is the truth, but 3000 lbs is about the weight of a Scuderia, which is a much larger car with a bigger engine. Also noticed the car is a 5.2 motronic? Someone needs to get a snap shot of that engine bay.
Well, it's not perfect....the numbers and backings are a little large... rear wing end plates also slightly large, but overall I'm happy enough with it and it fills a gap in the model collection 🙂 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Brothers and Sisters of The Revolution, I don't mean to bump an old thread but I like organization and this seems to be the catch-all thread for the Competizione. I found a 355 Competizione brochure on eBay and I scanned it for everyone to enjoy. Here is the link! No tow hooks either. Wouldn’t they be needed for competition? Update: I see one pic with a rear tow hook and another without. Two different cars?
Competizione did not have a light-weight challenge front bumper. It has a standard front bumper. *car is probably closer to 2900 lbs than 2400 lbs Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
