This is the early, non-varioram, non OBDII 993, basket-handle, 6-speed Carrera 2, in fantastic condition (with one important exception, see below) mileage=82K Location: NJ

I bought it as an early graduation present last year, but the new graduate is now moving to the city and just can't keep it. I am a lifelong collector, we currently have 6 Porsches, and I bought this after a long search. The black paint is just terrific, I photographed it in unforgiving bright sunlight and as you can see it is exceptionally free of scratches. The nose and hood have minimal pitting but there is some. The interior is also an 8-9. There are some past owner 'upgrades' to mention:

    Front strut bar
    Lowered
18" 996 turbo twist wheels (interesting 'titanium' finish)
    Aftermarket Sony stereo, w/digital inputs
fancy speakers, no cosmetic change from stock
    aftermarket HID headlight kit

    Recent service/consumables status:

Bosch Battery(w/trickle charge wiring) within 12 mos
New Hancook rears <1K miles ago
New rear wiper assembly, courtesy of first and last drive thru car wash experiment

Overall condition is simply very very good. AC blows cold, starts in all temperatures, handling and overall feel is just great. I have three other 'street' Porsches, two 930s and a 993tt. I also race a 993 cup car, and an '83 SC. The C2 is my preferred street car for casual drives, just as fast as the 930s, with a light tossable feel you don't get with the monster tt. It has never been tracked (by us, anyhow, as we have other more appropriate vehicles) All systems: windows, sunroof, climate, lights*, defrost, cruise, indicators, etc work great. It comes with spare, compressor, jack, factory gloves/tarp, original maintenance and owners literature, key card, valet key, spare key set (possibly never used), and an extra fuel pump relay I was told one should carry in 993s. Also a stack of maintenance receipts. I will include a copy of Adrian Streather's 'The Essential 993,' the massive tome which is the official Bible of the series.

If you have read this far you are probably shopping for a C2 and know all this, but in case not: The 993 is the evolutionary bridge between classic and modern Porsches. It remarkably captures the best of both worlds: The light weight, classic interior layout, dimensions, nimble feel that reaches right back to the first 911s of 1964, coupled with powerful, rev-loving engine, Toyota-reliable creature comforts and subsystems, and the sophisticated multi-link rear suspension that lives under all subsequent cars.

    Demerits:

currently a low beam *headlight is out.
The driver's door keeper is overly tight which apparently happens, and if not corrected can break. Functioning fine but this is apparently a chronic problem
Now, the EXCEPTION mentioned above: When we bought the car and did a PPI, the otherwise glowing report noted that two cylinders have out-of-spec compression. I have owned Porsches for 30 years and know enough to expect that while this job might get quoted at $4-5K, the 'while it's apart,' scope creep probably means someone will someday pay $10K to make everything perfect again. Performance is just great, and whatever HP is missing is not something noticeable to me. We have driven it ~5K miles during our ownership, including long distance trips with no issues. It does not consume oil. It sounds fine.

So. I've priced the car at a level commensurate with a truly fine '95 993 in a sensational color combination, in top-10% condition, then discounted $10K against the day that it begins to show symptoms. In particular, I used as a benchmark a very similar car that sold last week on bring-a-trailer for $57K

My tastes are wide ranging and eclectic so interesting trades considered, up or down, Italian (Alfa? Maserati? 246? etceterini!), British (been searching for a TR Italia), American (REO/Mack/Diamond truck!?). Later this year I will sell a '76 Turbo Carrera and a '78 930, so package trades possible as well.

GLWS! I've always wanted a 993, and I'm in NJ (not far from Princeton, actually), but I'm not in the market at the moment. Unless you wanted to do a package deal for my XJS-12 and Kia Rio...even then I wouldn't be close to the number, but I'm not ready to part with my E-Type or my 308!!! :D:D:D:D

Thanks for all the interest in the first few hours of post! Just one clarification: my interests in trades are all vintage car related, not contemporary.

the titanium finish looks similar to Turbo S finish.
If they were Turbo S hollow spoke wheels, you could probably sell them for 10% of the asking price of your car.
I'm pretty sure the wheels you have are 993 twists, not 996 twists.
If these ARE Turbo S wheels, you owe me!

    Cgfen on RL too.

LOL thanks for the lead on the wheels! The car will be harder to sell without wheels so I guess I'd better keep them bolted on, but when I get a chance I'll look for a part number and at least ID them correctly.

They made those wheels for early narrow 996's, If they were 993 Turbos S wheels they'd stick out about an inch in back because they are for Widebody's... Look to be painted hyper Silver.

You may want to rerun the compression/leakdown. When I did it on my 930 1 cylinder was lower. Hoped it was just carbon buildup. When I had the motor out, i flushed/cleaned the valve area. All it took was 1 tiny grain of carbon to throw the leakdown off. Repeat was completely normal, and great since. Drive it, and recheck... Might be better...

    ****SALE PENDING*****
Thanks for all the comments, leads and interest. My kid just returned from a drive to Greenwich to take a look at the Bonhams concours/sale field, and suffered serious misgivings, but upon return home accepted an offer. Reviewing the title I see he actually drove it less than 2K miles over his ~3 yrs of ownership, but that was still enough to forge some great longterm memories!
