Stunning! For someone that only wants the very best for their Ferrari collection, they would search a long time for a nicer one. Sometimes we pay more than we may think something is worth, but you can never pay too for the best.
Interesting. So you make a thread asking fellow Fchatters for help finding you a 355: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/506470-i-want-1999-355gts-sub-5000-miles.html Then you make another thread to sell to fellow Fchatters the car they just helped you find, but now with a premium. All in less than a month. Seems like a super way to make friends and contribute positively to the Fchat community.
Nice car - GLWTS. Although, I don't understand the cartoon looking photos, the ones that make the car look like a painting instead of a real car.
Question- the link to your ad, it says "With Just under 6600 miles and just one owner for the past 20 years, This car is truly a time capsule beyond reproach. This is No Typo...That's six thousand six hundred miles and 20 years from new." and the ad Sherpa23 linked (has same VIN and everything) says "We are selling a very rare low mileage, one-owner, 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS in absolutely stunning condition. The car only has 6,400 miles. It is a true time capsule." So does it have 200 additional miles on it, and aren't you technically the second owner?
Given he bought it 4 weeks ago, he may not have titled car. A Carfax would show the number of owners and if it was titled in the last 4 weeks
Iirc he has stated in the past (in my words since I don't remember his wording) that he is buying and selling(flipping iow) his cars in order to eventually get into a 288 gto, which he will then keep. At least he has made his intentions clear in the past. I 100% agree that if you're going to flip cars, do the work yourself. Don't ask this community to do the work for you.
Yellow compass says it was bought in Oregon and always services there. The new photos have NY plates, so I would assume it was registered by the buyer in NY.
Brian, those are good questions for sure but I want to clarify that I didn't post a link to an ad; I posted a link to the thread he made last month asking Fchatters to help him find a 355 GTS. The thread just happened to have the ad for the car he bought in it. In the thread he says that he's "always wanted" a 355 GTS like this one. So the next question is why is he selling the car back to the very people who helped him find it (at a premium, of course) after just taking delivery? He said that it's a car he "always wanted," so there are only two possible answers that I can think of, neither of which inspire confidence.
That's why I said that I assume he registered it. Pretty illegal to drive a car with plates not registered to said car up here. Unless he has dealer plates, but that would require more popcorn.
Nothing new. This was done with the 512tr going back a year. But, he clearly says this is what he does. Buys a great car, cleans it up, takes good photos then posts on Hemmings.
To be fair his asking price is hardly a "FLIP". Maybe the seller wanted it, had it, and wants to move on. If I paid 160ish for a car and looked to sell it, I would ask more than paid too. I'm sure someone will make an offer and I would hate to loose money if I could avoid it. Or if you go through cars often, why not just have it on the market while you own it. Someone wants it, you can make a deal. Otherwise you hold on to it.
