no problem, I did look at the carfax, says the car was also in Hawaii. Says somthing about a leased vehicle also, not sure if thats same as rental or just lease? Then I noticed somthing about car was in dealer inventory in 2001 but doesnt show a sale after and also seems like alot in the shop for electrical service? If a PPI is done, I think that seems like a steal for that car.

Spoke to Craig Mainz two weeks ago. The speedometer was disconnected by one of the past owners. It lists about 10k but he thinks is it really more like 30k. Carfax did not pick it up at all. They didn't found out about it until after they bought the car.

    Buyer beware.

Buyer beware!! this is to good of a deal. This is even to good a deal if the car needs the 30k service.

I say do a good PPI, I know there are a lot of skeptics , but once in awhile you get a good deal. Pay for a good ppi, leak down everything.....if it checks out, jump on it.

What, a dealer that stated the car likely had more mileage than what the odo said? Really? When I was looking EVERY ferrari had less than 15,000 miles, despite what it looked like actual mileage might be....

i called a little while about that car for a client of mine that also has a place in florida, the manager said there was a 20 person waiting list, and that was about 2 months ago with a asking price in the mid $70's, he also told me that he might buy it for himself...so 20 people,2 months,1 manager and 10 grand cheaper, I would definaltey STAY AWAY.

20 person waiting list for what? If someone wanted the car and paid their price, why should there be a list?

Or maybe......they were trying their luck and doing a silent auction or something....

    something don't smell right......

    and no email yet

I was at festival of speed today in st pete and this car was there. Its got a long history. Turns out its a TMU car. They are thinking in the 20k range at most. Car was repoed a few years back with a broken odo. Then sold. Then this car was bought by a dealer in S. FL a few years ago, then he registered it under his own name, turns out the tag office made an error and gave a clear title with the miles on the odometer. Later the car shows up and is traded in at jaguar of tampa. They paid over 100k for the car about 2.5 years ago. Turns out they try to sell it at the auction where its already been flagged as TMU. This is where the fun starts, they sue the previous dealer and win, he loses and declares BK. The car 2 years later just pops up for sale as the litigation has been over for a few months and couldnt be sold during the time as they were hoping he would have to buy it back. The car is rough to say the least, top is torn, door jams have rust, door dings all over it, motor looks terrible as if never cleaned so who knows about the records. Car has NO records as previous dealer wouldnt give them up for some reason. Now, gets even better, the dealer in S. FL who was shut down, is the OWNER of the exotic dealer in ceasars palace. RUN away from this place. I couldnt believe it when I was hearing all this. I think if you were willing to take a chance and wanted to have a project, it may be an ok car for 60k but I think you would have to spend about 20k to get it back to new. Only good thing it has going for it is next year it will be 10 years old so the miles are exempt anyway.

What do you mean when you say the miles will be exempt?

    Thanks,

I looked at it in November of last year before I bought my black 355. The top is inoperable and the car has been poorly maintained. I walked from the deal at $70k. There was no waiting list, in fact they called me for weeks afterwards trying to get me to buy. Thank god I didnt. It doesnt take much to add $25k to the purchase price to make a car like that right. I suspect that at a certain price it will be worth it but $66k isnt it.

From what I understand, once a car is over 10 years old, the title shows miles are exempt. It wont state wether or not the miles are 10k or 30k.

Yet another example of the power of this board. Where else can you get the sort of detailed information posted on this car by users. A car that looked good at first can now easily be seen to be a questionably proposition (at best).

Amazing. silver360 and others, great stuff.

Got the answer I didn't want to hear....Mileage was tampered with by the previous owner or mechanic....
