Wondering anyone can help me out on this.... Up until this past week when I clicked the black fob in the car it chirps twice and I can start the engine. I don't remember the red dash alarm light ever being on at that point. Almost 100% sure it was out when driving. This past weekend when I clicked the fob the alarm chirped twice but was kind of a delayed chirp, then I could start the car as usual but the red light would stay on the dash and not go out. I have since started the car another 2 times on 2 different days and the red light doesn't go out with the chirps being a bit more delayed than usual. I know there is a post about this issue but my main question is can I continue with the system this way even though there is a possible internal problem with the immobilizer (alarm battery, etc)? Will it eventually die and strand me or is the worst of it having a red light on the dash constantly on when driving ? Could this be caused from a low fob battery too which would be the easiest fix. Thanks
The red alarm light staying on will not cause you any problems as far as starting the car and will not leave you stranded over time. It only indicates a system fault and the red light staying on is most likely the battery in the alarm siren having died. Until you replace the alarm siren with a new one or replace the battery in your existing siren, the red light will stay on constantly when driving.
My FOB no longer chirps but after several pressings of the black button, I can start my car. How do I easily change the FOB battery if this is the correction? BTW, my red light has been on for years!
There is a single screw on the back of the fob that needs to be removed to separate the fob halves. Once the fob case is separated the battery can simply be removed and replaced. Always clean the battery contacts in the fob to make sure you get a good electrical connection to the new battery and the batteries do not last very long so always have some fresh batteries on hand.
Best mod I made on my 355 was removing the chirpy siren and unplugging the red LED on the dash. Anyone leaving his 355 parked overnight on the street in sketchy places? I know I'm not. This stuff is totally unnecessary.
