recently tried to take down my soft top and was unable to. it just kept beeping when i held down the button. question? my parking brake dash light would not go off, even though it was released. so i got tired of looking at the light on the dash so i discounected the light at the hand brake. with this said do you think that because the light on the dash is not lit the computer is recognizing it as not on?
    thanks van

Make sure that your seats are as far forward as they will go I had the same issue until I made sure of that before trying to get the top to move.

The park brake has to be engaged for the top to operate. The top ECU get it's signal from that switch.

lets not leave out that the top of the 355 is complete crap and breaks all the time.. theres dozens of threads here on this.

Mine is currently broken, again. Im going to have it converted to manual as some others have done.

regardless..theres a manual button to move the top up and down behind the drivers seat. You'll see a small black plastic circle on the side of the center console behind the drivers seat. Take it off and inside is a two button switch. one to move the top up and one down. That usually works..but not always.

I originally was going to purchase a Spider. After reading numerous threads about malfuctioning Tops, i purchased a Berlinetta (luv it).
    It's a shame that a $120K+ Car has this Glitch ! Totally unacceptable !

Yes the handbrake light has to be on ,it is a single lead to the switch at rear of leaver that lead goes to earth to put light on. The switch is very easey to adjust after removing the handbrake cover .

I have used the power roof on my spider hundreds of times with no problems at all, I do not think they are unreliable just a little slow having to wait for the seats to move fully forward.
