1999 355 F1 Berlinetta Help...Instrument lights and air conditioning not working. With some research I found the fuse that protect both of these. The fuse is good. What else could it be.
I'm sure someone will figure out your problem in 2-3 posts, but you might want to describe in a bit more detail. What happens when you try to turn on the A/C? Does the fan come on? Blows hot air?
Ian do you understand hiw the systems work. Have you read the manuals so that you do. By your description it seems you dont and without being more descriptive its very hard too help. Basic stuff first. You know there is a dimmer for the dash lights. You know there is a stop button for the ac Did the car idle up when the ac kicked in before. Does the lhs fan work as normal. Is the ac switch in auto for both temp and fan speed or are you trying in manual. This is just a start.
Do any instrument lights work, and do all instruments work? F1 unit works, all lights like airbag, check engine etc all work?
Tell me which fuse you think operates both ac and dash lights? Fuse. 12 operates instruments and license plate lights Fuse 25 operates ac so not sure which fuse you think does both??
Sorry for the vague description of my problem. To answer some questions; I do know there is a dimmer for the dash lights. This is not the problem All Instruments are working. The lights above the steering wheel and the the gauges to the right are out. The lower center counsel illuminates forward however the A/C control and door window switches do not. When I first start the car all warning lights work. All External lights are OK as well, including the licence plate and door open light. Interior dome lights work also. For the A/C issue One day there was cold air and the next none. Also accompanied by the strange loss of instrument lights. The car did idle up when the ac kicked in before and it was obvious the A/C clutch has engaged. The lhs fan (I'm assuming radiator cooling fans) appears to be working normal. I have cycled the stop button without change or success I have tried it in both auto and manual. The fan is working but no cold air. I do have a RADAR detector and a non stock stereo. I mentioned that I checked the fuse that is labeled Instrum. Air Cond. as shown in attached picture. I also read that has happened to someone else and it was the fuse. Too bad not in my case... Fuse 12 is under d/s front bonnet 2 nd row heading towards p/s and 3 up from front of car.should be 7.5 i think.
There is also some hidden fuses under p/s front bonnet rugs but they are not for this. You should pick up an owners manual f for nothing else but understanding your F1 system better. Did i mention some members have pdf for free
