For those who like to shop, go to gsaauctions.gov. Our government is selling a 1999 black 355 f1. Opening bid looks as if it starts at 45K
Has anyone ever bought anything this way? I don't like the idea of the govenment having a bid deposit. They might like it too much and decide to keep it even if I didn't get the car!
They typically have been sitting for long periods of time, no service records and no prior history is available (no VIN number provided). They may be rebuilds, have been in a fire, accident, flood etc but you won't know and have no recourse if you find out after the fact. It is very risky IMO on this type of car for the price they are asking for the starting bid. If it were 10 - 15k less then it might warrant the risk on potential required repairs. Besides, once the potential drug lord who previously owned the vehicle tracks the new owner down with the VIN# to recover the potential crack he had hidden in the car and busts a cap in his ass for "stealing" his car, is it worth it
........and it sold for just over 80k. Simply amazing. Vehicle is located in Honolulu, Hawaii and may need to be freighted.........additional cost. Seems a tad high.........
