    Howdy all,

I don't usually hang out in this section as I have a 308 but I am asking for some help for a friend. Actually a friend of a friend, but close enough. So a wife near me is asking for help selling her husband's 1999 355B due to illness. I don't know the car personally and don't have much info but here is what she has given so far for details....

1999, Berlineta hard top, manual 6 speed, red, 22K miles.
I have all the maintenance records. Garaged in heated, dehumidified space.

From another email it sounds like it's got all the books and tools but am not 100% on that. She is dealing with a lot and may put the car on consignment to avoid having to deal with people at the house.

Someone else suggested a price of around $60,000 which, not being a 355 expert, seems pretty close to me.

I know it's not much to go on and I haven't seen the car in person to check it out. Located in WA state near Seattle.

    Thanks,
    John

    Sorry for you friends illness.

You will get 100 different answers from 100 people but she would be underpricing that car dramatically.

It should sell for 85/90k and much more very soon, if all mechanicals check out and has perfect cosmetics.

'99 with gated transmission is somewhat rare as demand was heavy for F1 cars at the time. Collectors like the '95's and '99's - first and last year of the model.

Sounds like a nice car. The reason for selling is unfortunate, but I would say the car is worth more than $60k based on the info you've provided alone.

Yes no one wants to hear anyone is ill , I would consider $65,000 if that helps

For $60k she would not need to worry about people visiting the house. You would have buyers sight unseen. Dealers racing to giver her $60k first. Any dealer that bought it would sell it to one of their known customers before it came out of detail and without ever have been listed. Many here believe they would get $100k plus for it.

For $60k I would want to see the car tonight and wire the money tomorrow.

Your private party price should be in the $80's on the low end. The rising tide is hitting the F355 and the rare ones (low mileage GTB/GTS) in the USA are trading without hitting the market at higher prices.

If you want a 355 enthusiasts who loves these cars to take a look at the car in person and give a real assessment of what it is worth I would love to see it.

$60K would move the car quickly.

Sounds like a great car, and hope everything works out. If she decides to sell it, please let me know, as I may have a buyer in the Seattle area for you.

Talk to a dealer about selling it on consignment. You would get the best price less probably 10% for the consignment. And you won't have to worry about tire kickers, bad deals and bounced checks.

Won't Blackhorse do consignment? Don't they get the most from their 355's?

I think they do. They do list them on the high end and tend to move them without sitting to long.

That sounds like a good idea. They have plenty of spiders but no berlinettas at the moment.

I know of a few Gtb 6 Speeds with slightly less miles that sold right around $100K recently. Both had 1 month old majors and minty interiors.

I chatted with her some more today and she asked that anyone seriously interested in making an offer contact her directly. She's not looking to make a killing, just a fair price. I've gotten a few PM's already and I'll respond to those with her contact info. Please just be kind and don't contact her unless you really intend to buy the car. I know this is a great bunch here on Fchat and it would be cool to see the car go to a good new home.

    Thanks again for the help!!

I should have added if you would like her contact info please PM me.

I am new around fchat, can't figure out how to PM but am interested.
Looking to purchase my first ferrari, this may be in my price range but I am not interested in taking advantage of anyone during a time of distress and illness. Your friend may wish to bring the car to a local reputable ferrari shop to get a quote before selling.

Hi Dan, I believe you need a number of posts to be able to PM. Also, I think the seller will have plenty of offers so anyone trying to take advantage won't have a chance. I wouldn't be surprised if the car sold yesterday.

PM replied to Dan. Not sure if the car sold yesterday or not but I do know I've replied to a lot of PMs. I hope this ends up being an easy transaction for both sides.

Best luck everyone and thanks for the help again. Gotta love Fchat and car people. Always willing to help out!!

    Question re: 355 pricing.

    There is a '97 GTS 3 pedal with 31,000 miles posted on Cars for $70K. (1997 Ferrari F355 GTS, $69,997 - Cars.com)

The available '99 Berlinetta 3 pedal with 22,000 miles sounds to be worth quite a bit more.

Considering the '99 being the final model year F355, along with the low mileage, what are the other factors valuing this '99 significantly higher than the '97 ?

Not sure if it went to someone here but I was informed by the seller that this car is sold and on it's way to the new owner today. Congrats if it was someone here!! Sounds like there was a LOT of interest but also sounds like it was a fair deal for both parties.

Thanks for all the interest and help. Goes to prove my assertions that the car community in general and Fchat in particular are great!!
