Okay folks, finally got around to working on clutch again. I decided to go with the Hill Engineering Thrust Bearing. So, after some cleaning of the inside of the trans clutch area, I reassembled the thrust bearing assembly. Even though I have the manual trans, I went with the F-1's support pin on the side because it just looked stronger than just the roll pin design of the manual. I have the 6-bolt ring gear and all the clutch parts now, so I'll be working on this in the next few days. I'll keep you posted.

Same here. I saw the first pic with the rear bumper off and thought I was going to be sick. I wish I had that skill set...

    dude, air filters.

were all not mechanics here, but air filters... best way to learn is have a couple hours ( **** always goes wrong) and then start easy like air filters . right now I'm taking off my springs, and let me tell you ,there were some times were I'm going " ok , i'm screwed, gonna have to pay someone to put them back on..."

to original post: you are brave my friend.

Can anyone tell me torque specs for the flywheel to crank,
    Pressure plate to flywheel.
    Ring gear to pressure plate?
    I can't find any low $ literature.
    These would help immensely.
    Thanks, in advance.

just a lil opinion of mine would be to replace the transmission mount while you have it out .. there is a better stronger one out now ... just my 2 cents tho...

Excellent suggestion, yes, I already did, it was beat. And it is much nicer looking. I used my wheel bearing remover to change it out. Thanks!

Back to work. I was installing the clutch when I noticed that it was out of round!! It's a good thing I wasn't using the clutch line-up tool, or I wouldn't have noticed that it wouldn't center on the outside. (see picture of disc material riveted on off-center) I couldn't believe it either. Don't think that a part from the dealer is necessarily good. They exchanged it, but wouldn't give me the new box. (Gonna sell it off to someone else...#1236, watchout) Anyway, it assembled well after that. I've been working on it over the Memorial Day weekend, and again today. The clutch master won't bleed though. I'm kinda wondering what to do about that. I looked under the dash and noticed it was leaking inside the car. I ordered a new one, it will be here tomorrow, hope it will bleed. The bleeder block in the back looks pretty straight forward, is there some kind of trick?

    Great job!
Now when you put your foot on the clutch you know exactly what is going on down there and that is a satisfying feeling.
So what did you use to paint the box and oil sep tank?? Is it a clear gloss or matt finish? Spray can - engine paint etc
    What's next? ha ha

There's no paint on there at all. That's what makes it so beautiful. Glass beaded aluminum is awesome. I did, however, spray about 5 layers of Duplicolor Clear Engine Enamel 1200 degree stuff on there. (From PepBoys) Don't go crazy shaking this can looking for a rattleball, it's not there. Duplicolor told me since there's no pigment, it's the only one that doesn't have a rattleball, there's nothing to stir....I wish I knew that before I beat it to death.
Yes, wonderful feeling to know what's going on in there. And quite honestly, this Hill Engineering Thrust bearing I would use again, regardless of what's in the core, because there is so much more than just the inner bearing in play here, and they seem to have done a better job than the original. The tensioner, on the other hand, I think is a different story. The core is more critical.

Yes it does look awesome. Gives it a beautiful raw, purposeful look. How could you possibly paint any of that black again!
Rattleball story funny. Guess you were thinking you had a dud can.
