    Thanks for responses. Car is on the way to dealer now. How many of these bushings are there? Can they only be ordered from UK? Even if I'm told the problem shifting into 1st and 2nd is being caused by something else I want to have them I installed.

    The shifter bushing that is at the base of the shifting shaft itself can be easily replaced at home with only a few tools. There are DIY threads on here explicity for this issue.

    All the Hills products are available from Ricambi USA - you may well find many others with relevance to your car eg tensioner & thrust bearings
