I contacted this guy as well and got the same response. I can't say that it is a definitive scan, but after doing a nationwide Craigslist search this guy had this car listed on craigslist all over the country. East coast, west coast, north, south, and everywhere in between. Sometimes it was listed as an '80 and other times it was listed as an '81. I notified Craigslist about the obvious spam attempt, even perhaps a scam, and they removed just one of ten or so different ads that this guy had up. This all was a couple months ago, and if it is a scam I am surprised that he has had it up so long.
If the person responds, the usual way to make sure it is a scam is to ask to see it, even if you don't intend to. I once communicated on a M/C from FL, they said it would be delivered from a warehouse in Atlanta (after payment recd). When I responded that I'd be happy to travel to Atlanta they made up some other excuse.
My mom has a satsuma tree down in Galveston County, by Galveston Bay, but that's lemons or oranges on the adjacent tree?
That explains the handicap plates-- he's got memory loss, where he is, where the car is, what the serial number is, etc. It is one of the worst cases of memory loss I've ever seen.
Check out this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231296&highlight=gtbi In February of this year, user "bassbob" claims to be the owner of the first GTBi ever, and notes putting it up for sale. IIRC, I've seen that car (claiming to be the first GTBi) for sale two or three times in the past several years, not including this current craigslist hoax. Anyone know if the current owner is on here?
