1st Rule of Italian driving: Whats'a behind me is not important!

Cool! Been my motto since I saw the movie when it came out.

 

That must be what the slow drivers in the left lane are thinking.

Best rally movie ever

 

Love it.

 

Just put it on my Netflix queue.

 

I have used that for a long time now. The firsta rule of Italian driving : Whats'a behind you is not important. Second rule is : Don't hit whats'a in front of you. Third is : There are no other rules.

 

When that movie came out, I went to see it about 10 times. Then I held a mini-version of the Rally here on Long Island calling it the Beach-Ball Rally. We started in Battery Park, NYC (near the Statue of Liberty), leaving at 6am, and finished at Montauk Point Park. Lots of Fun!

I was driving in my 66 Alfa Duetto in Manhattan back as a kid in the seventies. Two gals in the car behind me were checking me out, so I went to adjust the rear view mirror to get a better look.

As I'm adjusting it, it comes off the windshield in my hand. I then nonchalantly tossed in behind the seat. The laughter of the gals haunts me to this day!

Later at the next pit stop he shows up in her car, gives her his silk scarf, hops back in his
Ferrari and reaches into the back and pulls out another white silk scarf from an entire box of them.

Or something like that, if memory serves.

Damn, now I have to go rent that movie... again.

It is if there is a pacing CHP.

But when driving in Italy, I agree.

 

A restoration cringe moment.
But a cinematic triumph.
