[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpzSEFMlXJg[/ame] Yay! Yesterday I've catched one of the very first production car of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, this is the 1st sound video of the F12 if we don't consider the prototypes and mules on spy videos.
Agreed! That and some x-pipes! BTW, it looks to have an awful lot of bodyroll, just look at how the right fornt is sagging near the ground coming around towards the camera...
Is it just me or it looks a bit like a muscle car? While it was driving out the corner the design looked " heavy " and like a Mustang or a Camaro..
They're 2 very different cars. The F12 is a car made for cruising and for the track, the GTO is an extreme track car but not comfortable for a trip or the city, the F12 should be compared to the 599 GTB / HGTE, not to the GTO. Also, in a couple of years we'll see the F12 everywhere and it will devalue, at the contrary of the GTO since it's very limited.
It's pure music! Much better than the 458 or California. The best sounding production Ferrari since the 355 IMHO.
A more fair comparison would be F12 GTO vs 599 GTO Time will tell how the 599 GTB holds Value against the F12. But from a performance standpoint, the F12 is much faster than the 599 GTB and still edges out the GTO by a substantial margin too. In a beauty contest I don't know if either the F12 or 599 are going to age that well. That is not to say that they are ugly-but neither have timeless beauty.
I think there will be a huge drop down of the value of the 599 just like we have seen in the past (F430 -> 360, 458 -> F430). The 599 still looks modern and awesome to me and yes after 7 years with the F12 you can notice a huge evolution in terms of style, power and performance.
Sound is subjective but to me thats sounds superb, definatley louder than a normal 599 GTB and the 599 wasnt exactly quiet! Its a GTO because it wasnt designed to be.
I didn't notice anything too different in the video sound. I wonder if they use different exhaust systems in the test cars to keep everyone( competitors alike) a little bit in the dark on the final sound. We all know this is a big deal with the cars and why give it up too soon without good reason.
I'm sure there will be a good amount of aftermarket support right away from Novitec, Capristo, Kreisseig etc. I think it sounds good but a really crisp exhaust tone would sound amazing.
I think it may just have something to do with the manettino setting, with regards to roll and tame sound, as if you watch the mule's out on test in the video below the driver gives a couple of quick bursts to satisfy the on looking cameras, and alonso and fernando drive it more aggressive twhich sounds very nice, although I have to admit I can only imagine what it could sound like with a capritso or tubi etc... I'm sure the wait won't be too long. In the meantime. It's supposed to. You don't think Ferrari would make the GTO obsolete that quickly do you? They're handling this GTO to F12 in a very similar fashion to the 430 Scud handoff to the 458 in terms of rawness and arguably sound. I'm sure they toned down the F12 a bit to allow the GTO to maintain its rarity for a while. Besides, I'd wager they'll offer a sport exhaust that will come close to the GTO. And as others have remarked, Capristo or Tubi should have no problem blurring the lines between the two notes. No complaints either way from me...;-) Forza, Cavallini
It's glorious but this clip is clearly not being driven as wide open as the official video. Forza, Cavallini
