For those of you who love out-of-date cars in which to geriatrically cruise around, there are 2 308s being auctioned by H&H Classic Cars. If I didnt work for a living and instead were a "IT geek" I would be able to give you the link - but fortunately for me I cant!

I see you crawled back out the woodwork and are still bitter that you don't own a ferrari. I guess what really does it for you is that these 1981 cars are still out of reach for you.

Don't pay any attention to their estimates. If you look at their past sales results (at least in relation to Ferraris and Ferrari literature) you'll see that nothing ever seems to be bid anywhere near their estimates.

Good, that will dispell the public notion that all Ferrari owners are arrogant pricks.

Probably not as it would break down every day and need a cambelt change every week! The saying "a fool and his money are easily parted" comes to mind. But then again you guys have to keep the mechanics in business....

not sure why this thread got so bitter. ANY ferrari is better than none and for those who either prefer the earlier cars or cannot afford the newer ones, 308's 328's etc work really well and don't require the incredibly expensive care that the later cars do. You will still find that most mere mortals go weak at the knees at seeing any F car, GT4 to 430. Its only ignorant prats who ***** about not being able to afford that cause the aggro. IMO just about anyone can own an F car if they really want to and are prepared to make sacrifices elsewhere in thier lives. It all about desire and passion, not doing it doggy fashion!

So how much do you think a 308 would cost to run over 3 years including depreciation........and how much has your 3 series lost in the last 2 weeks

I agree that the depreceiation of a 308 will be zilch! but then there is the running costs and the rip off servicing (not to mention cambelts) at specialists. Ferrari genuine parts cost a fortune eventhough they are FIAT parts in disguise. Yes the M3 depreciates daily, but its on full BMW warranty so if anything goes wrong they fix it! Then there is the everyday aspect: it can do stop -start in the tunnel all day without the temp gauge moving a whisker. I hav'nt got a problem with people hailing the 308/328 as a classic car -but please dont for a minute think that it can hold a candle to modern, cutting edge machinery such as the M3! Please, we not school kids who are easily impressed becuase its a F car!

It costs around £3-400 to do the cambelts and tensioners on a 308 (every 4-5 years), parts cost is not too far off the price BMW charge for comparable cars of the same age (7,6 & 8 series). maybe you should have used a decent specialist to look after your Ferrari

If your stuck in the tunnel everyday you should leave earlier!, its nice and quite at 0730 ;)

It all comes down to choice, you like your BMW(only 6 this morning in Tesco's), I like something I wont see 20 of everyday of the week and makes me smile when I jump in and turn the key

You so badly want a Ferrari and you know it ! Now all you do is wind up people who have a passion for the marque irrespective of which model it is. Why not simply admit that you wish you had one and look forward to that day.
