To all those with 95 US 355s with Motronic 2.7, and probably some later non US cars.....

Has anyone done anything to IMPROVE the gas mileage? I know that the 5.2 version improved it considerably, but am just curious if anyone has bothered to pursue this. Perhaps some of you in Europe may have done this with the $5 a gallon and up prices of petrol.

Also, for those who have changed ECUs to Haltech, Motec, aftermarket-tec - I know that a performance improvemtn is unlikely without other changes, but what about your mileage?

Just for the record, I get 17mpg driving at 70mph on a freeway trip, and as low as 9 in LA freeway driving. Average is about 14. (remember, that's US gallons...)

    Thanks, Dave

The 95's run rich. You can smell it on startup. I am getting the same milage on my 95 355. But the 95's have more power than the other years so take the good with the bad.

I don't want to know what the mileage is.

Just like when I go on a hot date, I don't add up dinner, wine, tickets and dry cleaning.

Basically, driving the Ferrari is like getting laid, and I don't care what it costs.

but ya know I would check for plugged cats....

Cats seem to be okay given the dyno numbers (328 RWHP). I am really just interested to see if anyone else has discovered anything significant to explain why these cars are so thirsty. If I could spend 10 minutes and/or $10 to improve it I would. Beyond that, I consider it only as an academic exercise.

Sadly I could care less about the cost of filling the tank as I don't use the car enough to worry. Sitting in a Ferrari doing 15 mph on the 405 doesn't do it for me.... That's why I bought a bike. Mileage rocks too - my license plate is "76 MPG" :)

I think it is just the 2.7 management system. They ran these cars rich because the motor really get hot so I think they were worried about being lean. What you are seeing as gas milage is typical of the 95's. You tend to drive these cars at higher rpm because that is where the power is so that does not help milage. If you had plugged cats, you whould have no power. I have Hyperflows and that has not helped milage. You have great rwhp numbers.
