    Hi Guys,

I really enjoy the 550 but the sound from the stock exhaust is just not Ferrari.
    It is almost dull.

I am thinking of changing the exhaust to tubi’s

The cost will be $ 4 K to install

Is this a good change, I hate to say a good investment as this is all emotional but is the change worth it.

I have checked the archives but just want some response from the guys that have a 550 with Tubi.

I like a good roar and the car does not have it.

    Any help comments please ?

Personally I find the 550 with Tubi is too bassy at low RPM's. On the 360 it's a different story. Maybe try to listen to some others.

Loud but worth it. I also couldn't believe how quiet the car was with the stock exhaust when I test drove it. I had the tubis installed before I took delivery of the car.

Try searchign for the myriad threads covering this very topic.

Personally, I much prefer the CG over the tubi any day of the week, especially if all you are going to do is mufflers.

Tubi plus stebro straight pipes is the way to go.Love the sound of my 575 yet not intrusive on the freeway.

There is a silver 550 running around my neighborhood with a set of tubis.(seen it up close at the local store). It sounds AWSOME. definately go for it. By the way it doesnt sound too loud. At least not from outside the car.

I have a set of Tubi mufflers on my 550 and they sound great. A bit quiet at higher rpms, so I'm looking at adding some mid-pipes/x-pipes soon.

Stay away from the Stebro pipes. After over 10k miles with them, I have to say they are pure crap. If you want good sound, go with CG exhaust. Way better than tubi. If you want REAL sound, test pipes, straight center, CG.

You must be talking to a dealer! I fell for that with my first 550 and only overpaid by a grand or so.

....and I was getting a (ahem) "deal" ;)

If you simply must have a Tubi, a lot of guys (who quickly got sick of them) will sell a used set for $1500!

Otherwise, listen to Dan and I (FIVE 550s between us) get the CG and be happy!

Darth has a nice vid of his car, showing the sound, which he may share if you ask real nice.
Tubi is loud down low, quiet comparatively up top as standard. Forget the name go with experience, from what I've heard and experienced myself CG is the way to go. To make Tubi sound AWESOME, have no cats, get rid of the centre muffler and replace with a crossover pipe form ferrarifixer and add the tubi mufflers. That's right the only restriction in the system is the Tubi's hanging off the end. Sounds absolutely psychotic, but is way too loud for daily usage. I'd love to hear that combo with the CG muffler as I think you could get away using it as a daily driver. Dan, when are we going to have that pleasure??

Except for delivery time, this is the first time I've seen this type reference on Stebro. Most posts suggest its a good option either with or without Tubi/CG. Why do see it differently? Thanks.

I have been using the Stebro from some time. The only advantage I can think of is the weight. But looking at build quality, overall sound, performance, resonance, etc. I have to say I am less than impressed. But then having seen the tubi, I'm nto overwhelmed either.

The one I'm most interested in is Phil's.

Just my $0.02, if not worth less......

I haven't heard other exhausts for the 550, but I love the Tubi low bass sound/growl. Great replacement for a stereo :) I wished the same sort of tone continued past 3k. Also no comparison to stock exhausts - I was listening to a 575 the other day and it didn't even compare - too mild, not enough "personality" for my liking.

As an aside, I actually enjoy the sound of the 12 cylinder w/Tubi better over my CS, particularly if the drive is over an hour. The 430 exhaust seems to be the right "tweener" of the CS and 550. Must be the bigger engine and more torque than a CS (and similar to the 550).
