I cant decide between 2 cars. My money is waiting, its just that both cars present different potential ownership experiences. On one side is a 1988 Blue Testarossa, on trade sale from Foskers. I do know it has seen some trackday action, and needs cambelts, and is sold as seen for 24k. The other is a 1987 328, fully serviced, belts done 2 years ago, and is a private sale, for 22k. I have always wanted a Tr, and the temptation to forego 'reliable + serviced' 328 ownership for a sold as seen tr is quite big. Either way the import tax on each model is 12000 euro, or about 9000 sterling. Help.
Sorry I can't help you decide But if you chose the TR please send me details of the 328 as I know someone who is looking for one - thanks
Personally I would say drive them both and make your mind up, 328's are very nice and would be certainly cheaper to maintain but personally I would have the Testarossa, what shade of blue is it?
if you have got deep pockets go for the tr, if you are sensible you should walk away, personally i would go for a red one thats not seen any track days, look at verdi's web site im sure you will get a much better deal from karl and you will get a proper well looked after car for not much more than you are talking about
Drive both cars and make your mind up based on what they drive like and what a PPI report's opinion on the condition of the cars is Don't worry if a car's been tracked or not, provided it hasnt been fitted with a roll cage, slicks and been into the barriers they'll all be perfectly OK with doing a couple of days a year on the track Can you do the TR's major service yourself? if not you'll be looking at a £2k bill at a minimum (by the time you've replaced hoses and seals as well as the belts and bearings)
Well, I run a race car team over here, and I have a full workshop and have rebuilt v6 engines, so I certainly would look into an engine out on a tr myself. Believe it or not my biggest worry is the fact that its not red!
The only other car i might go for is a 1976 fibreglass 308. I can only find one for sale in UK at the minute, for 23k. That would be nice...
328, 328, 328 But then again I do love 328's Not experianced a TR, so maybe the same is true but the 328 seems bullet proof, drives well on UK "B" roads, not too wide. and I suspect would be easier to move on when upgrade time comes along. AND THE ROOF COMES OFF I do stress that these are only my thoughts
I've seen and driven the tr in question. I estimated about £10k needed to bring it back to good condition.
Im going to view a 76 fibreglass 308 on saturday. My little brother bought a mini cooper so Im flying over with him to pick it up, and ill checkout some ferraris while im there.
From what i have heard, the E/w dont work, its spent a while as a track day car, and it needs cam belts.
Go for the 328 - it's cheaper and it looks better! 328 is easier to work on and I finf the testarossa too wide! Either way, one or the other - just do it - buy one.
this customer brought one,its mint till i gave him a list of £4000 worth of work on it,get them checked over before you buy these things for gods sake, this car has full history and i can't and wont tell you who it is and you will know if i told you who's been attemting to look after it, Image Unavailable, Please Login
by any chance suspension, brakes, major service including all rubber bits? and before anybody say's it no we havent been looking after it ..........Dale any chance you can tell people who's serviced it rather than who owns it?
sorry m8 i cant say but it does keep me laughing, doing a maserati at the moment im rebuilding that due to crap workmanship AGAIN,if only you guys knew, Dale.
