Just watch the vid... not for the faint of heart Headlines of local newspaper today; happened over the weekend during Shanghai Ferrari track day. There is even a video of it; if it was not brake failure, I don't know what the hell was the guy thinking. Red one that got T-boned was China lady and White one was Hong Kong guy. China lady's sister was passenger and was put in hospital with no serious conditions. According to the article, the guy just left the scene afterward and flew back to Hong Kong. No response from him after the lady tried to contact him numerous times. At last, the lady went to the court and issue an order to seize his car from shipping back to Hong Kong, then he replied with an email. What a bloody jerk. All photos and info from Appledaily. Ouch... Glad no one was seriously injured. Two GTOs crashing is certainly a very sad spectacle I think those are two distinct pictures simply pasted together. I don't think she was actually standing there smiling next to her wrecked GTO...
lol. We love doing "V" in pictures on this side of the globe, but it would be a bit far fetch after wrecking a GTO
chinese there is a saying old dont go new wont come things so well in chian just bought another new car then
That was certainly not the sentiment at the accident sight as 2 very upset owners looked at 2 totaled cars
Another perspective is that taking a car onto a track involves risk. Everyone signs a release and takes their chances. Accidents at track days are commonplace. They are easy to avoid. I saw these 2 cars coming in a pack (there were others involved too) and pulled over and slowed down 800 metres before the corner to be clear of what looked like having great potential to end in tears. Nobody from that pack gave way going into the corner. Neither of the GTO's was treating the time on the track as a simple fun outing. There was pride involved at that corner. For 2 non-racers in road cars the ending is fairly inevitable. Maybe the HK guy with the white car did not enjoy the discussion at the scene of the accident and left. The Chinese red car owner cannot hold up any of the HK cars. They all came into China in bond together and they all had to leave together (including the remains of the white GTO) the day after. There were some 50 cars including several of mine.
Not a happy sight to be sure. How is that RHD Daytona coming along; are you driving it yet? Was that one of the other cars you brought to the track? CH
RHD Daytona is perfect. Had it at the track but it was in the Ferrari Museum so could not take it out. Bit of a homecoming for the Daytona as it was on the track the weekend the Shanghai F1 track was opened
+1 Every time I get a sniff of that when I'm out on track, I get as far away from scenes like that as possible. Especially the afternoon can get tricky since they had time to "discuss" where they brake and how late during lunch and ... they got used to the speed. Gets very tricky and ... I'm out. Nothing to gain at this stage but a lot to loose Just a shame to see it end like this.
Accident was early in the morning. Simply 2 owners with 2 fast cars seeing who was faster on a long straight with a tight corner at the end.
Sad. Has happened before and will happen again in the future no matter how many times people are warned that this can get very tricky. Good to see everybody walked away from the scene unharmed (except for some ego damage). That's the main thing.
+1. As the song goes, "Nobody's fault but mine". Such is life on a racetrack. Neither person should be labeled the "bad guy" here, especially given DM18's info that they were all "racing". BTW, the video is down from youtube....anyone have another link?
