    Hi there,
I have just painted my Dino about a year or so ago and used 2 pack. The finish is great but we spent a lot of time cutting it back to make it look like an original finish rather than the orange peel finish often associated with this paint. I guess the only downside is that it is harder to touch up two pack, especially with the Dino and its lack of body joins to paint to, but the paint does give a fabulous, durable shine. You can still get a great shine with acrylic but it takes a bit more looking after. I am pleased with the decision we made as, like you, deliberated quite a while over the same issue.Hope this is of some help
    Cheers. John

    Thanks John,
Your reply is appreciated as it touches on the relevant concerns I have. Like you I dont like the orange peel look and would definitely rub it back to get the 'smooth look'. I (and the Ferrrari guys helping with the restoration) believe the durability of 2 pack to be the deciding factor. Paul.

Good luck with the painting. I had mine painted by a friend with a paintshop in Christchurch NZ,about 80 km away from where I live. I did the stripping back to bare metal in his shop then left all the technical stuff to him. We have won several concours awards since then so must have got something right!!

Cool. Did you restore the car generally?

    Hi Paul,

No, my car didnt need restoration but the paint was Dulon, and starting to lift in places. That became a major problem though when some lo life decided that they would run a key or nail around all the panels while I was at the supermarket for 10 minutes. I decided then to to paint, re carpet and re chrome along with new bumper rubbers etc. I have had her for 22 years now so is part of the family. I am the third owner and although in concours condition, she isnt a trailer queen and does get used. The mileage is 52000 and I have all the documentation from the delivery to the first owner from the factory. All the panels etc are original and she keeps company with an MGB Ive owned since new in 1970, a 1963 Mini Cooper 997cc owned for 25 years, a Honda S2000 and until recently, a Tommi Makinen Mitsubishi Evo 6.5. she is rosso chiaro with tan leather. How about yours, have you had her long?

    Cheers,

    John.
