Hi Experts JUst had a 2015 458 Spider show up at the house this weekend. Love it. 2 questions: 1. It sounds so much better in "race" mode than "sport" mode-- the manual recommends "race" mode only on track basically and recommends "sport" for everyday use. Am I doing damage to the car by keeping it in "race" mode despite what the manual states? 2. When the top is down, my back window/wind shield does not rise all the way up as I would expect it should. When I press the button, it goes up about one inch if that from its starting point- is this normal??? thanks to all - appreciate your expertise
thanks a lot-- now I need to buy a monster exhaust.... what would you guys recommend - on my 360 I have the Stradale racing exhaust which is the best $1700 I have ever spent
1. Have the valves pinned open , very inexpensive and it will sound like race mode all the time. 2. That's normal. 3. Post pictures of the new rig. Congrats bro , safe travels . Best - Kirk.
Get a forza remote electronic bypass. Can switch between open and close with a touch of a button. I just installed ll it again and took less than an hour.
Just get a Capristo remote for the exhaust. If you after that wish to upgrade, get a Novi or Capristo setup. As for driving in race? No problem. They write that to avoid those who think they're Shummi from day one from stuffing their car in the first tree they encounter. That being said, when you get used to the car, put it in CT off instead of Race. That really saves your rear brakes. When in Sport or Race, the ESC system really puts a heavy load on the rear brakes. At the end of the day the Capristo remote allows you to open or close the exhaust full time in every ESC mode + run it in normal auto valve mode - and unlike having the valves plugged, you can still close them when needed be. Get the romote,
With respect to the back window, press up on the button a second time. It will go higher. (The window will raise about an inch or so and stop. Release the button and press it up again.)
Get a Forza Componenti controller and you can keep your exhaust open all the time, closed all the time (for tracks or areas with strict noise compliance), or according to the car's stock programming. Costs less than the Capristo unit, too. If you want super loud all the time, the IPE exhaust will make your car sound like a pre-turbo F1 racer.
+1 I love the keep closed feature for when you don't want a cold start to wake the entire house before early morning drives.
Congrats on your new 458. You mentioned that you liked the exhaust note in race vs sport a lot better. What I recommend for a lot of our clients is to drive the car on a regular basis in the "SPORT" mode for the more comfortable ride etc and purchase the Novitec or Capristo Valve Control Unit which allows you to manually open and close the valves so you can hear the glorious exhaust note. We also recommend going with an exhaust as well. It all depends on if you want to go with something a bit louder or quieter. The system that seems to be a crowd favorite is the non-valved Novitec Exhaust System which keeps the system in the LOUD mode at all times, and then you get the nice exhaust note. There are plenty of other options out there too, such as the Akrapovic, IPE, Capristo and more! Give me a call directly, i would be more than happy to help out!
Just unplug the vaccuum lines that operate the exhaust baffles so the exhaust is loud all the time. If you don't like it, you can easily reverse or buy a control so you can openn when you want. The back window does not go up all the way with the top down. If it did, the window would catch the air passing over the car and you would be miserable. One of the best things is you can put the window DOWN when the top is up thus you can hear the engine music ...heaven.
Fabspeed Headers, Novitec Test Pipes and Exhaust (flaps open) https://youtu.be/yTxOSsci2uw not hard on the gas, and prob shifting 3->4.
