I have a Rosso Corsa w/ Cuoio on order. Delivery won't be till March/April 2011. My MB SL600 is Mars red w/ a panorama roof. The dark tint of the roof glass is most attractive, contrasting with the background of the red body. I have received many compliments about its appearance because of the red body and dark roof mix. In this area SLs are a dime-a-dozen. The color combo is what seems to set the car apart from the others. I see that the California can be ordered with a 2-tone exterior, A-pillars and roof a different color than the body. I used Ferrari's online configurator to show the car, Rosso Corsa with a Nero (gloss black) roof. I am considering making the change.

I welcome your thoughts and opinions of the color combo on a California.

Robert- Works on the GTO, should work on your California, as well. Most of the GTOs have matte roofs, but some have gloss roofs. Both look great, but matte is going to soak up quite a bit more sunlight.

Another option is to have the roof wrapped in a gloss black. Much cheaper and if you change your mind no big deal. I like the two tone look myself.

Robert, I have just ordered my Cali a few weeks ago and I went for the two tone as well. White body and black roof.
I don't love the Cali in red but IMO the two tone works extremely well on the car. I saw at least 5 at the factory in various colours and the black roof looked amazing on all of them.

It's a pretty expensive options as between the pillars and the roof (2 separate costs!) it ends up costing more or less £5500 in the UK. Obviously worth it from my point of view ;-)

The wrapping is a much cheaper option obviously but I have no clue how well it would end up.

    Good luck with your choice.

Like you guys, I really like the two tone paint job and when the new California M comes out I'm going two tone - maybe silver and black. I've seen that a lot of people recommend wrapping - I can see how that might appear attractive but I would have thought that when you remove the wrapping which, at some point will happen as I don't see it lasting as well as paint, the original paint will be different for the wrapped and unwrapped areas.

I've wrapped cars for advertising before and found that after a while it gets pretty tatty - so my vote goes for a factory or custom paint job.

I think the Rossa Corsa/Cuoio/Nero combo would look fantastic, esp. if you got black carpets. The question would be whether you would like the look with the top down, esp. around the A-pillar. Have fun with your order!
