2 Way Radios---Need Advice

    Our car club wants to purchase some 2 way radios. Most of our driving is in the mountains. We are trying to keep the price around $100 but we are flexible. I've done some research on the net and the biggest problem is believing the manufacturer's claims. Some claim a range of 12 miles but in most cases you are lucky to get 1 mile. Does anyone have experience with 2 way radios that they would recommend?

    IM IN THE BUSINESS....NO 100.00 OR 200.00 WT WILL WORK , ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS

    I SUGGEST A MOTOROLA CP200, HAS I BELIEVE 6-8 CHANNELS IF NEEDED, UHF OR VHF FOR ABOUT 350.00 OR SO

    HAVE EVERYONE CHIP IN, IT IS THE BEST ONE OUT THERE FOR NOW

    Thanks for the information. I'll ask the club if they would be willing to go $350. We need to purchase 6-10 units. Do you know if the CP200 can use 4A, 3A etc batteries as a backup in case someone forgets a charger? You must be laying low. I haven't seen you post in some time?
