I have been reading up on timing belt replacement and noted that there is a different cam timing between cars with and without Cats (Euro specs) which equates to about 20HP. Is this difference to take into consideration the increased back pressure caused by the cats or a emissions related issue? Can I change the cam timing to Euro specs if I am running free flow exhaust (ie Hyperflows and X-ost) and get the 20 HP benefit or it is just wishful thinking?
BTW, it the timing different between a 92 TS and a 94 Spider?

Cam timing, ignition timing and compression are different on base version cars. If you go to base version timing specs you cannot put on cats. They will overheat.
