There you have it, the 200 MPH run. Not enough room for most cars to make it on the 11,000 ft. runway, but a few made it. Care to guess...? 599? 430 Scuderia? LP560? Koenigsegg???

I'm thinking of doing this-hit the website for info on upcoming events. It might be cool to hit 200 at least once in this very short life worth living!

i sure didn't see any 200 mph runs, just a bunch of cars starting out.

btw, the shots towards the end of cars going by a bit faster ain't 200 either.

200 mph gonna look a LOT faster if you see a car that speed blow by a stationary observer.

I've been to plenty of the ALMS races, and I'm not sure they reach 200 at Sebring or Road Atlanta, but close. Since I was not there, nor do I know where the video was taken on the big end, I cannot comment. But I am told the Koenigsegg and 560 did break 200MPH.

The Koenigsegg consistently hit 200-205. We expected to do five to ten runs over the course of the weekend. We did over 20. Ironically enough, on its last run, the CCX hit its highest mark - 208. Pictures on their way in a day or so.

Didier Theys, for those who do not know who he is see below...I heard a crazy story about him driving some folks in a van to-I think it was Watkins Glen, with the van sideways most of the time!

With a racing career at Ferrari, multiple victories at Daytona, Belgium native Didier Theys is a former driver in the CART Championship Car series.

The LP560 did hit 200 on the dot. The Koenigsegg also consistently hit well over 200 mph on the runway. The 599, Superleggera, and F430 were all in the 192-199 range. Overall the event was a huge success and everyone had a great time. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. We have another event coming up January 9th and we have a few seats left. Same location as this one, Dade-Collier Airport outside Miami.

Roland has kept the local folks up to date and said he loved the Koenigsegg-the most exotic and fastest of the bunch. His only disapointment was that he did not get to drive it! From what Roland said, and if that car will be there, I may do this myself.

Apparently from the smiles everybody had a good time. The high speed runs looked like a typical day on Ocean Parkway here on LI. How did they judge speed? Did they use manufacturers' speedometers? It would have been more convincing to video the timing equipment.

For the event in January we will have both the Koenigsegg CCX (driven only by Didier Theys) and the Bugatti Veyron. I'm not sure if participants will be able to drive the Bugatti or not.

sort of a bump as still on the general subject of the 200+ MPH club, which is what this is really about.

Local gal here, in Santa Rossa, broke into the 300 MPH club [ 302.179 mph ] , as one of only two woment to do so, BUT is now one notch above in that she also did 186.4 MPH On a 1,000 cc MotorCycle setting a record there.

Can't reprint the story here as NYT/SantaRosa Press Democrat gets all Pi$$y

    http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091102/ARTICLES/911029978/1350?Title=She-feels-the-need-for-record-breaking-speed

but it's an interesting read. Dr. Jeannie Pflum

I couldn't watch the video now. How do they verify the speed? GPS? Timing lights? Speedo?

The Everglades track is planning on becoming a regular stop on the 1-mile land speed racing circuit.
There are a fair number of cars (and motorcycles) that compete in this sort of thing,
and for the "big dogs," 200 MPH in the "mile" is not such a big deal.

There are a number of street bikes that are running over 250 MPH.

Dr Phlum is pretty good in cars.

    Not too sure about bikes......

not sure either, but she is tops from the article in the bike category "for women", which makes her pretty, pretty good :D

that is plenty fast to me. and 300+ mph has a small membership.

Actually, Leslie Porterfield has been about 240 MPH on a turbo Hayabusa
at Bonneville, and Trillium Muir has been 241 MPH on a turbo Hayabusa at the Maxton mile.

First woman broke 200 MPH at Bonnevilleon a sit-on motorcycle in 1979.

    186 ain't too fast anymore

300 MPH in ANY car is still pretty impressive.

I understand, and we can let it go, but the Dr. is the FIRST woman to break 300[/] {Only one of two according to the article} and also have a top motorcycle record. At least that's what they are trying to sell, don't know, perhaps we'll see it in the GBWR, but, thought kinda cool.

and 241 on a motorcycle = just, plain, crazy IMO. Kind of akin to those guys who do free fall with wing suites.
