Hi All, One of the items that needs replaced on my recently purchased 456 is the AC compressor. Any good leads on aftermarket or refurbished? Thanks in advance! I am in Austin, TX if you know of someone local that could help.
Austin Rebuilders in Austin, recommended by Rifledriver. I sent my 575 compressor to them several years ago, very customer friendly and reasonable cost. Since you live in Austin, you could drop by and check them out.
I suggest you go through the whole system and completely flush it out, replace the dryer and maybe the pressure switch. There is an expansion valve on the evap unit that can go bad is and is a pita to get to unless you take the dash off for other reasons like recovering. In any case your rebuilt compressor may come pre-loaded with oil. If that is the case, you need to make sure you get all the old oil out. Here is what I did on my 1995 GT. The systems are very similar but the compressor is different so you cannot do the compressor swap that I did Maybe you could find one that fits like I did.
