Is it normal for the oil pressure to up almost to 130 lb/in2 (140 max on odometer) for the first 15-20 minutes of driving? Speed is around 40mph-70mph (from street to freeway)? After 20 minutes or so, the oil pressure would go lower to about 70 and at the traffic lifght it would stay around 30-40. Anyone has the same experience?

I just bought my first and only ferrari, a 1999 456 M gta in August 2007. The engine oil pressure acts simliar to what you are describing. However, I would sometimes get check engine light come on if i drove the car right after starting it. I have noticed that engine oil pressure is more in the center if I warm the car up (approx 3-4 minutes in idle) before zipping around. When you first start the car, the engine oil pressure is definately on the higher side. I just had the oil changed. The car was using Shell Helix 5w-40. My new mechanic uses a 10-40 valvoline synthetic blend. The engine oil pressure appears slightly higher but very negligble difference.

Sounds your car is acting like mine so maybe they are both normal.

How do you enjoy your car?
