I had the same year in the convertible. I am told the coupe handled even better, but I have not owned one. I think the coupe is fugly, but hey, what do I know. The 2000 had some improvements in stability management (nanny button) that make them easier to drive near the limit. 2000 does not have the uprated HP of the 2001 or 2002, but for me had plenty of power. The M roadster I had was a blast around town and on the track it more than held its own. Major thing to watch for. Rear diff is spot welded in place, Pull up the trunk carpet and check the spot welds, you can see if they're starting to fail, and they often do. Repair before they fail is maybe $2-3K to replace the mess BMW put under there with a more sturdy setup. Repair AFTER they fail is a LOT more expensive. Dinan used to sell a kit to repair this issue, not sure if they still do. But, really a great driving car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sorry that I EVER got rid of this one. D

Remember S52 vs S54... Let's say this...M Coupes can be "twitchy", not Jensen Healey twitchy, wait, that's witchy, what, witchy women? Yeah
