http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180617080877+&viewitem= Wow! I wouldn't have thought this car would be seen like this for at least another 10-15 years. These are still my favorite mustang ever made
A pal of mine has one of those he bought new. I drove it at the racetrack for several sessions. It was like steering a rhinoceros. You Mustang guys are a bit nutty. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dealer did not do PDI! You can still do the PDI and keep the wrapper on. Still, I bet he pocketed the $650.
Race car?? Really?? By whose standards?? Better than stock, yes. But by no means a real race car. $70,000?? It will NOT sell at that number......
Ridiculous price....it did get up to $64k+ earlier on Ebay...might not have been legit bidding though. They are fantastic cars....I have #91 with 17K miles. Brian Image Unavailable, Please Login
once again, I am baffled by the near-zero-mile time capsule American car. it is a cool car. would make a great track day toy, but not at $70k.
Go look at the prices on 93 Cobra Rs and get back to me. Not everyone's cup of tea but they'll be major $$$ collectibles in the future. RMX
you could buy a prepped, ex-Bondurant Mustang for $20k or less and be as fast or faster than a stock Cobra R. no need to spend $70k on a track car... yes, I think this will be a collectible car at some point (I guess it already is really)
I've got # 76. ( now with 38,800 miles, got it with 1500 back in '01 ) You over on SVTPerformance.com ? We have quite the group there in the Cobra R forum.
Micheal, do you happen to know the # of your friend's car, and also, same question as above, is he on SVTPerformance.com ?
They are numbered? Oh boy. Mustang guys are way more nuts than I thought. I am sure he is on the SVT forum (at least I would imagine). His name is Scott from IL. Heres another shot from my drive: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember this car when it came out. My friend in high school was going crazy over it. I didn't understand the price, but the excitement for it wasn't a surprise given the R's history and this iteration. It will be worth that much, if not more, in the future no question. The guys like my friend who loved that car in school are saving up for it (btw, he's now a doctor [resident] so can buy one in a few years, lol). Depends whether or not they maintained it. If they haven't turned it on since then and didn't do anything else: yep. However, if they turn it on and get the fluids moving...it's in much better condition. A user here with a F355 bought it recently with less than 100 miles or so. It was well maintained and has given him no problems (he has changed out a few things).
This was the first R model to be supplied to the general public (93 and 95 required SCCA license) and a great collector piece. If my memory serves me the sticker price was right around $65k, so you would basically buying it for new pricing 11 years later. These capsule cars are just for non-driving collectors, and will never be road enjoyed (not me). Someones collection might be nicer with a "buy it now" click.
There was also a Cobra R at Atlantic City classic car auction last weekend. In the wrapper as well. The seller turned down $78,000 David Griffiths from Legendary Motor Cars was talking to him. Legendary loves low production specialty and race cars so you might see it on thier site for sale.
