Nice pics--I would love to visit old ruins like that---I have always wanted to go to Egypt and tha Gaza Strip----Just not sure when the right time is... Don't want to be kidnapped by some Islamic radicals and fed to goats or something

There's always Libya I guess? Leptis Magna?

South of France is pretty good for Roman stuff. Loads of it, but the French are only just beginning to care enough about it to cordon it off and charge admission. Within about an hour's drive I've got Nimes, Arles, Orange, Pont de Gard which have Roman amphitheatres and arenas whose condition is so good they are still being used! The remains of the Roman bridge on the photo from 1st century a.d. are at St.Chamas.

Plan to have a look at the ruins of Barbegal in a couple of weeks which is almost cycling distance from home. Only heard about it recently - it seems to be the first evidence of a mass-production in history. A production line water mill set up to make flour for Arles.

Cyrpus takes a lot of beating. Speak english, Greek food, loads of antiquities, mediterranean. They've got so much Roman stuff that, on pulling into a lay-by there, I found I was actually driving over an old Roman mosaic floor surface!!!!

285, why the hec would you want to go to the Gaza Strip? Egypt is fine but Gaza Strip? Here's what you would be visiting, so I don't think this forum wants to lose you. (notice how five year olds are brought up:

stunning pictures! My grandma used to live in Nice, I spent a lot of summers in the cote d'azur. Europe would be such a fantastic place to go around in a 348 :)
