    • Argento Nurburgring exterior / Nero interior
    • 6-speed manual transmission
    • 5.5 liter V12 engine
    • Very rare interior carbon fiber trim
    • Daytona seats
    • Modular wheels
    • Up to date on servicing
    • 50K miles
    • A late 550 with rare options in a classic color combination
The 550 Maranello was Ferrari's return to the classic front-engine V12 layout, not seen since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona in the early Seventies. The V12 engine is an absolute masterpiece, producing 485 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque, with an almost completely flat torque band and that inimitable Ferrari V12 sound. A perfect 50/50 weight distribution creates a wonderful handling balance, which only gets better at speed. Finally, the 550 was the last Ferrari to have a 6-speed gated manual gearbox as the only transmission choice, before Ferrari started the inexorable transition to automated manuals.

This particular 550 Maranello is a wonderful example of this iconic car, in the classic livery of Argento Nurburgring (light silver) over Nero (black) leather interior. Not only was it produced in the last model year for the 550, meaning it incorporates all running changes and improvements made by the factory, it features some very rare and desirable options as well. The interior features the very rare carbon fiber interior package, where many of the interior panels, the door sills, the gear shift, etc. are covered in carbon fiber. Desirable Daytona-style seats, modular wheels, and side shields are additional factory options. And, in the hands of a previous owner, the rear deck and headliner were covered in the diamond pattern quilted leather seen in the photos, very similar to the factory option quilted leather package. Finally, a Tubi exhaust was fitted to enhance the sound of that wonderful V12 engine.

The mileage shown is 50,700 miles, but this 550 looks and drives like a car with far fewer miles. Service records are available going back to 2010. In 2019, an annual service was performed, including servicing the AC system and rebuilding the alternator. And, the last major service, including timing belts change, was performed in 2018. There are no “sticky” components in the interior, and the original manual set with pouch, the toolkit, the tire inflator, and even the original window sticker are present. I have personally driven this 550, and it performs as a 550 should perform. The engine is incredibly strong and keeps pulling like a freight train to redline. Steering is sharp and true, the handling is perfect, and the powerful brakes stop the car on a dime. There are no rattles or other untoward noises.

Ferrari 550 Maranello prices have leveled off from their high from a few years ago, and this is the time to buy one of these incredible cars. This 550 Maranello is priced right, and is a Ferrari that can be driven and enjoyed by its next owner as a true grand tourer in the classic Ferrari tradition. The 550 with Argento Nurburgring exudes sophistication; hands down the best color,IMHO, for this car.

This one despite what some consider to be high mileage was an excellent example. I used to own it and had everything sorted out (cosmetics, major service, tires etc.) prior to selling it a couple of years ago. I was almost crazy enough to buy it back but I slapped myself and moved on :)

Understanding if the final sale price is unavailable....for tracking purposes, may we be reminded where the posted original ask price was at? Wish the TdF blue Sheehan has on consignment had those wheels. Thanks -- Eric
