this issue was intermittent and replacing brake switch seemed to help but was “false” fix,
The brake switch connector has 4 wires. Powering up the solid red wire allows the car to shift normal and brake lights stay on so that helped me get the car home. Any insight or info to help trace the issue would be appreciated.

Have you adjusted the switch properly?

Remove the switch by turning it 90 degrees (anticlockwise)
Pull (hard) on the switch's plunger until it extends fully (10 clicks?)
Put a 2mm feeler gauge on the back surface of the brake pedal arm (aligning with the switch bracket hole) ... i.e. the thickness of a US 5c piece.
Put the switch into the hole and push on it until the switch body contacts the bracket.
With the feeler gauge still in place, rotate the switch to remount it.
