Hi, maybe someone has experienced same....based on two mechanics my clutch still has 85% life remaining (whatever that means), however we just installed new Steering Wheel as well as Sport Switch, and since then, if I put the Pedal to the Metal, it will skip from 1st to N, not every time but maybe 10% of the time...so you look kind of stupid, stepping on the Gas and you are in Neutral...

Last week my mechanic took the tail off and checked the 3 Sensors/Screws and they were fine.....

Before the new Steering Wheel and SPORT SWITCH were installed, never had this problem, shifting was perfect....would anyone know if this could be caused my the wires within the Steering Wheel not correctly connected as there were bunch of wires...or no relations with the Gear shifting at all?

The easy answer is probably, get a new Clutch but been told it is fine.

Majority of the time it will only skip between 1st and 2nd (going to N) and sometimes from 3rd to 4th...and only if Pedal to the Metal...

If anyone has experienced this and have a quick-fix solution (yeah right), I would love for you to share with me.

    THANK YOU/Steen

majority of time when a f1 car is skipping gears or keeps popping into neutral it is due to the sensors on the t/o. there is a magnet that slides with the t/o and the sensor that senses the magnet. I dont want to tell you to spend the time and money to dig in just to get to the sensor if it could be something else but keep it in mind if you still have the problem and nothing seems to work.

P.S. hook the car up to a sd2 and see if there is an error code for clutch beyond pis or engagement error.

Steen- Sounds like whoever hooked up your steering wheel and sport switch (Sport mode switch? Your old switch was dead? That is mathematically a very low probability) screwed up the installation. The Sport mode really has nothing to do with selecting gears and its job is to speed up shifting and stiffen up the shocks.

Sounds like you are getting a short between the upshift and downshift paddles that tells the TCU you are selecting neutral, just like pulling back on both paddles.

You are not pulling our chains, are you?

It is possible that the gearposition sensor is getting bad or dirty. There has been several reports indicating that if this sensor gets cleaned, gear skipping or going to N problems can disappear. If it is going only into N, then it is F1 hydraulic pump to blame (the electric motor is going bad...).

Thank You for feedback, I have now asked another shop to completely remove the Steering Wheel and then re-wire and put it back on, as I just cant see any other reason, due to shifting was perfect until the new Steering wheel was put on. Will advice and thanks a bunch for feedback.
