    Hi guys/gals:

Have been lurking on this board for months and am finally ready to pull the trigger. Read a lot and learnt a lot. However, there is still a huge variance in prices people expect their cars to fetch. I understand that everyone feels their car is the special one and therefore commands a higher price. I have recently seen the following car.

    http://www.luxurymotors.com/inv/search2/inventory_detail.aspx?vehicle_id=14606&start_year=1950&end_year=2009&start_price=&end_price=&model=&make=Ferrari&color=&mileage=0&lesst=&dealer_id=&dealer=--+All+Locations+--&type=&keywords=

The car looks good but I have seen cars with lower prices. One just sold in Ohio for $115k with 3000miles.
What do you guys think? Seem like a reasonable price or could I do better?

    Thanks

If you want my opinion, I would wait. The prices are not going up in the future but down. The Gas prices, the lower home sells, the down stock market will all get people to sell their toys. The more cars on the market and the longer they have to sit on them will drive the prices down. So I would just wait for a while unless you REALLY want one NOW, then just bit the bullet and get one, otherwise just wait for the right car at the right price. It is out there.

For a 2002 with only 3000 miles, that's a very good price. Nice interior. Can't tell if it has a tubi or stock exhaust though.
As long as all the service records are there and carfax checks out, looks like its a good car.

I am searching for one as well, and this will be my 2nd time around getting a 360. Took about a year to find the first one.

Most of the less expensive ones have some stories or are 'off' colors, or don't have a tubi exhaust, challenge grille, etc.
When you see something in the low 100's or even below and then start digging, I have found that either the services haven't been done,
something is askew with the carfax, the clutch needs to be done, there is no red key fob, service records are sparse, etc.

It's not easy finding exactly what you want, at the price you want. If this car is your color inside and out, and you go and test drive
it and all checks out, then get it.

None of the below are deal breakers for me, but are serious negotiating points as these are the things I am looking for.
No Red key fob- 2k off the price immediately.
No tubi- 3k off the price
No daytona seats- 2k off the price
No challenge grille- 1k off the price
If it's coming up on 15k service, then be ready for that, plus a clutch. If it's already been done, that's a huge plus.

    But, that's just me.

Anyone have a 2000-2003-F1, rossa corsa, with Tubi, red fob, daytonas and challenge grille, less than 20k miles, and with good service records?
    PM me if you do.

    Hunter

I drive pass that car on the way to work everyday, it's at their Infiniti store on LaSalle, in the window. I sold cars there for 6 months or so when I first got out of college. LM always has a huge inventory and most of the cars are real rough. Do a search on this site and you will surely find very negative feedback!

I have heard the Luxury Motors is NOT the best place to deal with. I've been searching for an Audi A8L and some of the guys in our Audi forum don't say anything good about L.M.!

With ANY Ferrari, get a PPI done at a reputable shop (Lake Forrest).

As has been mentioned, LM doesn't have the best reputation, especially when it comes to exotics. From what I understand, they get a large amount of inventory from the larger dealer auctions. Basically the buyer stands in the lane and just buys EVERYTHING... there are litterally truck loads of cars bought at each auction. Not sure where they got this specific example, but good Ferraris DO NOT go to the dealer auctions.

Food for thought on LM -

That should keep you busy... there's more if you search on your own.

A lot of people on this board will lead you to believe the 360 and 430 market is in it's early stages of collapsing. It will never happen. When it comes to these cars, the demand will never go away to the point the prices come "crumbling" down. I would just consider "minor" depreciation is a reality. By the way, these should never be considered an "investment". Just go buy it, drive it and have fun!

Thank you, everybody, for all the great advise. I looked at the BBB compalints on LM and boy, this saved me a major future headache. I think I will definately steer clear of this place.

Sooo, what do you guys think of this dealership and car.

The driver's side bolster has wear marks on the sports seats, but o/w appears good.
    Look forward to your comments.

If you wait 10 more years the price will be lower.

But seriously, I have heard nothing but negative feedback from that dealer. Suggest searching the Chicago section.

Hey there csun213 I would love to see the pics of your last 3 f-cars including your 430. Are you a car dealer?? it seems that nearly all your post on this forum revolve around pricing of 360 and 430 f-cars with the same message. I am just wondering what qualifies you to opine on prices with such conviction. Perhaps if you had your profile filled one could get a better idea of the source for advice on buying 200k cars.

My last 3 Ferraris were 305, 328 and 355. Went overseas to work for a few years. Now I am back and is looking for a 430. I have been looking at the prices of both 360 and 430 for a few months now.

I can understand guys with 360 and 430 thinking that the prices of their cars will not go down but will either hold their value or even go up because it is a Ferrari however when I check the prices, it just does not seem to support this.

When was the last time you saw the price of a 430 drop below $200,000? I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a couple of 430s however decided to wait just a little longer to see what is happening in the world.

I agree with some people that if you have to have a car now, then just go ahead and get it. However I don't need a 430 today and can and will wait until I can see the world more clearly.

    I. personally do not like buying something and then see the price of the Ferrari just drop a few months after my purchase. Does it mean that I will run out there and sell my Ferrari right away, No but will it make me feel good about my purchase?

I am just giving my opinion however if no one wants to hear it, I guess I will just keep my opinion to myself from now on.

Nice car and the sport seats are a very rare option, especially in a Spider. That being said, $149 for an 01 Spider w/ 10k miles is not a great buy... if you can negotiate quite a bit off the asking price, it would be a good buy. Otherwise, if you're ok with spending that kind of money, I'd keep looking, probably for an 02 or even 03 car...

Edit - or even an 04! Bentley LI has an 04 Spider in TDF/Tan w/ 4200 miles for $153... that really puts the 01 at $149 in perspective, rare racing seats or not...

Looks nice, PPI and all that, but about 15-20K high on the price.
