I referred my friend to look at a car at Huntingridge and is now interested in there 2002 Maserati Spyder that is for sale. They are asking for $55,900 with 16,000 miles, navigations, paddles, and some other good options. I don't know the market for these cars that well, but wanted to see if these cars are good for everyday? I have heard rumors that some people have had major problems with this specific year and can get messy. If anyone can drop a line or so I would appreciate their input. Here is a picture of the actual car.

You want to get a 2003 or newer. Newer engine and better electronics. I have a '05 with 3K miles for sale. It's at Ferrari of Long Island. I loved the car - you can drive it everyday, it's comfortable and it will keep up with the pack anyday. I even smoked a green 355 owner on this site...who's name shall remain anonymous :D

On a Spyder the 02's had problems with cowl shake. Much improved on 03. 02's will be soon out of warranty as well. The car at Huntingridge has a lot of miles for that price.

The engine is great and the car drives tight!!!

Only problem area is detail stuff (typical of Italian craftsmanship :D ) such as Speaker cover not tightly fit, glove compartment's lock got stuck, etc. But they all have been corrected. The car also is under full warranty for another three years.

Thanks everyone for their comments. My friend went over to Miller and they have a 2005 Blue on Tan Coupe for $82,000 with plenty of great options. The car has no miles and is a left over. I guess this is the best way to go instead of buying a 2002 which still has some of the kinks in it. The warranty is also a plus in the newer 2005.

Here in California, I sold a 2003 Spyder which had a window sticker of $109K and although the miles were a bit high (23k), we gave it away at just under $55K. Over the years, I learned that these cars, although nice cars, have a less than average resale value, along with the Aston Martin.

My suggestion would be to go the pre-own route and save yourself or your friends TONS of money.

Great suggestion. The Maser depreciation seems no different than the Aston Martin depreciaton. Interesting to see how the AMV8 will fare.
