Gents. This is an information only posting. Just incase this happens to you. Unfortunately, I've not been driving my 360 spider very much lately. Yesterday, when I went to take it to dinner a few odd things happened. Upon turning the key to the "on" position, I got the "check ok" indication but with a strange alternating warning series of beeps, and the F1 light illuminated. When I tried to select neutral, I heard the normal "clunk" but then the warning beeps returned and the "N" light began flashing. The car refused to start. It acted as if it was still in gear. I got out, gave the rear bumper a little push and indeed, it was in Neutral. I tried to select 1st, same indications- warning beeps, and a flashing "1". Then when I select Reverse "R" illuminated, with no warnings. I gave the bumper a little push again, indeed, it was in reverse. I came inside and did an F-Chat search. Lots of results, but none specifically with my symptoms. I called Ferrari of Seattle. I spoke with their service tech, and he told me to do a few little tests, I performed them, with no improvement. Then, I was able to achieve "N" with no warnings. I tried to start the car. The started only CLICKED. THAT WAS THE CLUE- DEAD BATTERY. I simply plugged in the battery tender for overnight, and the car is now idleing nicely, in my garage. I just wanted every owner to know this incase they have the same experience.
Same thing happened to my 360, 2 weeks ago.If you had opened a thread about that,i would tell you that it's all about the battery
Thanks for the posting... with winter coming up, I'll bet this will help a lot of other folks who will drive their cars less-often and may not have the cars on a tender.
thanks for the info. Very helpful. Lots of people might have to have their car towed to the shop to sort that problem out if it were not for ferrari chat.
Can't remember everything, (not much really), but he did make sure the brake lights were working, if the brakelight switch was bad, it would not go into gear. That's the big thing.
