So what do you guys (and maybe a gal or too) think of this car for $25,000? I must admit I'm a junkie for torque and silver and black. Dale Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mileage? Those things are an absolute hoot. My guess is high mileage. Still, 25 isn't too big of a number.
The wheels make me wanna projectile vomit. And replacing them is a $4K +/- hit.......... I'd buy a totally stock one for the same money IMHO.
I was sitting in a SL63 this week, sticker @ 187K, and it was nice but nothing special. In fact I was amazed at the danger that the corner of the A pillar presents to people getting into the car, had I not been extra careful I would have hit my head. The whole line-up is nice, but nothing stands out. The interiors are small, and weird. My head was 1 inch away from the roof in the 2014 E and in the SL you almost need stilts to reach the pedals. Carpet is one of the standards for me in judging luxury, the mercs were very weak on that. So, nice but no cigar and they should rename it AMG.
If anybody is interested, I can give you the contact info. The car is in the Seattle area. I'm tempted, but I need another car right now like a hole in the head. Dale
Done that...........heh.....was a MB salesman for years and did it in 2003 when the new SL came out. The cure.....? Grab the corner of the offending A pillar with your left hand when getting in the car........
I had a '07 SL 55. I don't remember any problem with the A pillar. My only problem was watching it drop a $1,000 in value each month. Dale
If you get in w/o thinking about it, because of the wide sill. as you pivot your body the side of your head, temple/eye socket, meets the sharp corner of the A pillar when the roof is down. Nasty set-up caused by the extreme rake of the windshield. Also I will add that Bangle must be on the merc payroll now as the fronts of their models have a similar goofiness to the trunks of beemers from years past. The SL pictured in this thread is better looking then the SL63. (as was the S class from 03)
