Hi I am having trouble with a customers car at work. It is an 04 360 spider and we had it in for an oil change and rear pads. After finishing the job and taking it for a ride it was parked behind one of the bays. After a couple hours of sitting we went to move t and it wouldn't start. Cranks and cranks but won't start.

After checking all fuses (Atleast all the ones we could find) and checking battery voltage and also charging the battery for a little while it still would not start. We did notice however that after cranking the motor the drivers side throttle body will click for 10 seconds or so. After unplugging the throttle body on that side we were able to start it but it won't go over 1500 rpm. We were able to move it out of the way and back into the shop at night.

We dont know if the throttle body is bad or if the battery voltage dropped too low or if it's something simple that we did wrong when we went to start it back up. Anything would help!!!

    Thank you!

Is the alarm acting correctly. You need to hear two beeps to know the alarm is deactivated.

Sounds weird, betting on faulty sender somewhere along the line, seems like wasn't really connected to the oil change, but my first check would be on any electrical lines/fixtures located in and around area worked on, maybe a spanner slipped and unhooked or loosened something, and the test drive vibrated it into disconnecting?

Didn't someone post recently that a clicking throttle body was a bad ECU from the opposite bank?

Very sensitive to chargers! Sounds like someone didn't realise it cranks and no starts with the immobiliser set. Maybe the immobiliser, but as mentioned more likely the engine ECU.

A little more profile information is the polite way to seek help on most forums, would hate to see you regarded as a troll.

Sorry I haven't ha a chance to answer back. Where are te engine ecus located? We aren't sure if we have found the correct ones.

The other guy in the shop put rear pads on it as well but that couldn't be the issue unless he pulled on some wires accidentally somehow, someway.

We only have one key fob as well which is a black one. From what I understand there is a red master fob but I don't know why that would all of a sudden cause the immobilizer to come on but stranger things have happened. Im not even sure the owner has the red fob, he bought te car about 6 months ago. I did try the ignition reset about 10 times with no luck either.

I will try the ecu swap tomorrow and ill also check around the oil filter and see if a wire may have been pulled somewhere.

    Thanks for the help!

Let me make it a little more clear. Complete your Profile so we know a little more about who you are and where you're located.

    Thanks. :D

Time to stop and review before you listen and react to the internet white noise. No offence meant to earlier posters.

If the car sits for a short while, the immobiliser will kick in allowing a crank but no start. resetting via the key fob should bring a two beep or flash from the light. Then the car should start. Be sure that you understand and carry this out first and foremost. Any charging should be done carefully hooking up a trickle charger and allowing time to recharge. A reverse hookup or fast charge WILL damage components.

The red fob is the holy grail, if the immobiliser is not resetting first with the black, often the red will do the trick.

Not time to be probing around and pulling things apart that are outside of your expertise. All else fails, you are close to several factory and independent shops to take it to. This will be a cheaper option for you believe me.
