Hey everyone, I've recently come into a bit of money and I want to do a cross-country USA trip in a Ferrari at a leisurely pace (i.e. 1-3 months to go across the country, making stops for several days in various cities). I see that there are some used Ferraris in the $80k range (Cars for Sale: 2004 Ferrari 360 Modena in Monrovia, CA 91016: Coupe Details - 342799934 - AutoTrader.com).

I have never owned a car like this, so I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. What other costs should I consider (other than insurance, gas, oil changes)? How much value will this car lose by adding ~3000-5000 miles? Would this car be able to handle driving ~500 miles/day? I also live in Manhattan, so I don't really need the car after the trip... I plan on selling it or renting it out afterwards. Basically I'm asking how much the total cost would be to do something like this.

    Any advice is appreciated... thanks!

The 360 is a very reliable car. Putting 4000 miles on it on a cross country trip would be probably a fantastic trip. Just make sure it's checked out and serviced properly before your trip. The value of the car isn't gonna go down because of the miles after your trip but on a trip like that you will put on some wear so a basic oil change/filters and touch ups will most likely be needed after your trip too. I did a cross country trip after I graduated college from east to west coast and it was one of the greatest things I've ever done in this country. Do keep in mind that a big fun part of a trip like that is going off course and on some unique roads and a Ferrari might not be best suited for that so you have to really plan ahead. I'd love to do a trip like that in a Ferrari rather than put on miles driving in the city. Also keep in mind that trunk space is not much but heck-that might be part of the fun. You can message me, I know a friend who's selling a perfect 360 if you're still looking. Enjoy your trip-DO IT!!!

absolutely NO ISSUES with the car doing 500-600 mile days, its supremely comfortable. The only issue some people may have is the lack of cruise control but after 11 hours in my 360, I still wanted to keep going when I got to my freeway offramp instead of going home.
