Wow... what a great setting for Ferraris... simply beautiful... I'll have to come back sometime when the gardens are in bloom. Wow... what a staggering collection of Ferraris... the five featured cars were each something special... each a special example of just a handful in the world... I need to go take a nap, so I'm not going to caption each. Sorry. (Dang, Rob... this 196K limit is a pain... even shrunk to 576x432, more than half my pics fail the size limit... gotta go back and re-shrink them even smaller.)
Both days so far have been excellent. The entire event is a full performance. Tonight is the big night. Concourso was great. So many cars, so little time and soooooo cold Excellent pictures of today. I did not take enough. Will post some in afew if I have time before the dinner. So many F-Chatters, so little brain to remember all names. Saw Frank Parker the first day and not after that. (well probably did see him but did not click, as I said little brain )
here are some from thursday night with Carbon being caught. Jerry being arrested for talking smack to an officer. and some track days and one from the concourso.
Wow...simply amazing!! The setting is gorgeous, and the turnout of Ferrari is astounding. I am sooo jealous!!! Great pictures, and thanks for sharing!!
Awesome weekend, Carbon was getting out of control Sat night, I wish I had brought my camera then. Unbelieveable what these girls will do (or let be done to them) for beads! I couldn't believe that cop arrested me for simply asking her about her breasts!!?? BTW, I saw William H's buddy (forgot his name) on Bourbon this morning at 5:00 rolling out of Ric's when I was in a shuttle bus..LOL!!
Holy Crap! That was me, Ken, Rick(cochise), and Phil that you saw rolling out of Rick's. Will had left much earlier, but we stayed a tad longer. Will and his friends are crazy bastards! Cool cats for sure. Anyway, at Club 360 I had given a rose to one of the champagne girls the night before because she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. So I am sitting at Rick's, look up, and make eye contact with the SAME CHICK!!! She was soooo embarrassed that I found out she was a stripper. It was hilarious! Jerrari, sorry we didn't meet. Or maybe we did but just didn't realize it. Lol
Same here John. Go to Calallino in January for more great fun & we will have a cocktail!! BTW, who else feels like crap today?? I had to get up at 3:30 to catch a flight . Bourbon St. is nuts!!
Here are some shots I got this weekend. Tried to only post the best shots rather then putting up a bunch of BS. The cars are great but the people are even more special. Congratulations to the owners of the 250 SWB Cal. Spyder who took home "Best of Show". If anyone wants any of them in 1600x1200 format please email me. Brian- rather then reducing the pixel count try adjusting the JPG quality. Changing from 95% to 90% has little effect on the image but reduces the file size nicely.
Those Highway shots are from yesterday I assume 170Mph on I10 was the highest Ray clicked in his 360Challenge GT (the white one). I did not go over 140, was a little damp and the tires were not warm but worn. Did about 90Mph through the French Quarter at one point
Great photos! It was really fun meeting so many fchatters! The drive out to the track was a hoot. We made a wrong turn and got left behind the tail end police escorts. Unwilling to accept this, I stomped it and caught up. The two motorcycle cops at the very end of the group waived us by so we were cruising with 2 cycle cops behind and a police cruiser in front all with the blue lights going. Then on a very long straight on the smooth pavement two lane highway, while moving at about 125mph, the cruiser in front motions us to go by! We hit 245kph in the Daytona before backing off! Terry
Oh, forgot to mention the hotel parking garage... level after level of Ferraris. Another great touch orchestrated by John and Franco was the detailers who worked all night to clean up the cars after the track day to prepare for the Concorso. They weren't nearly as "detailed" as I am... particularly all the black marks on the hood that are typical after track events... I had to work on those the next morning. But getting the bulk of the cleaning done was a huge help. Here's a few pics of the garage while the detailing was going on...
I was wondering how all the cars got so clean after the track day... The logistics for this must have been a nightmare, I can't imagine how all of those cars got into their places... Just curious, what time in the morning did you guys start driving the cars into Longue Vue Gardens? Speaking as a spectator, the operation seemed to run very smoothly considering the complexity of things.
An even nicer setting than the Concorso Italiano in CA! And some very interesting cars. I've got to make it a point to go next year.....
Very smoothly... and no agitation! The friendly atmosphere makes a big difference. But the Louisiana chapter members did a phenomenal job of coordinating the whole... To answer your question, some left their cars overnight; more showed up 7-8; most showed up 8-9:30; a few a little after that. Because of the one-lane limited access to some parts of the gardens, they had to stage some groups until all others from other groups arrived. They had it all figured out... and the pieces came together nicely. Very impressive indeed. Compared to the high-stress, high chaos, nightmare that was CI, this event was amazing. Of course, to be fair to CI, they have 1000 cars in the show and another 1000 in the corral... but then maybe they aren't making the right trade-off between quality and quantity... a choice that John and Franco are clearly making very carefully each year. Wise of them!
It was an amazing event and my wife and I are planning to go again next year. I hit an indicated 150mph on the rally to the track on Friday with a 360 cop car a few cars in front of me! On Saturday I hit 140mph on the way to the concours and over 100mph going through the French Quarter on Sunday morning. It has been hard getting back to the real world where going that fast will land you in jail. The gracious hospitality of the Louisana Club and everyone else involved was phenomenal. Thanks again to Franco, John and everyone else would helped put on the best Ferrari event I have ever attended!
Anyone know what the highest speed of any of the cars was in the French Quarter on Sunday? When you guys started from the street next to Windsor Court and came across Canal Street...what kind of speeds were you hitting?
Dunno. 80-ish I guess. I heard the Diablo GTR got clocked at 208 on the I-10 under the Broad St overpass. Dave
