found an 04 gallardo, 5k miles, seems in good condition. awaiting PPI. any advice on buying this car, as it was first year of production? the lambo dealer wants 99K for it. I am willing to pay 90K, is that reasonable?

i have heard that the changes made for model year 06 and on were not subtle, can anyone comment regarding this? thanks

What is the color and interior? The mileage seems low for it to be one of the dealer demo cars but I believe there was a run of the first 400 or so cars with yellow being E gears with grey (not 100% sure of that) and the black cars being 6 speeds with black and yellow inserts. Those are well known to have been put through their paces. Other then that...depends on the car...

I believe in 06, the front lift became standard and the gearing is a closer ration on the 06 cars. Also they have the newer rims (forget the names but they are the split 5 spokes).

05 and newer front lift is standard. In 06 they made some exhaust changes which resulted in a slightly higher hp rating, some slight gearing changes and intorduced the Callisto style wheels. The original 04 design wheels are called Casipoea (sp) and remained an alternative wheel choice throughout the 04-08 body style run.

Early 04 E-gear cars did have some issues with the clutch and software, many were repaired under warranty using the "revision E" clutch disc. The launch cars were all metallic black with the yellow inserts and I believe they were all six speed cars as well.

Not sure what color this car is, but with 5k miles and a 99k asking, I'm guessing either yellow or silver.

Id make sure it was a later production number also, I think June was the last month of production...mine is...less problems..

I bought a 04 with less than 5k (with a new updated clutch and software), in august of 08, paid a little more than they are asking for that car. I would ask if the egear is updated, if you get the serial number a dealer should be able to pull up the history for you. If you like the newer wheels (I found a set pretty cheap), they now make LP560 (i have one of those as well) front bumpers to fit the older cars, and I have seen the rear (I like the old rear better) bumpers as well. My car is a later (in 1600's) production car, and it has been a lot of fun to own, though I also coverted mine to RWD, since I am no fan of AWD sports cars. Good luck

As replied in previous post...the 90K can be resonalbe depending on the PPI and color. Silver and yellow are more common and bring lower price. But any color is a great color for a Lambo. Check out Roy and Kevin... they are posting a 04 Yellow for $85K on the **************** forum.

You might check it out also.
I purchased my 04 about 7-8 months ago and have enjoyed every mile (about 3500 so far).
What color is the one your looking at and is it manual or Egear?? Any mods done to the car yet??

I have a 2004 Gallardo. I am very close to buying a new 2010 gallardo. When I bought my used 2004 from a dealer I had a private mechanic inspect the car before I purchased it. The dealer and I had already agreed on a price pending the inspection by my mechanic. My Mechanic found a small issue which the dealer fixed no charge. . Lambo is also hard to deal with on getting parts for a private mechanic. I got an agreement before money was exchanged. I am told ferrrari is not a problem. I have no personal experience either way. My F cars and lambo have not needed anything. I was also able to get a 90 day " good faith" warranty on the car. I used it once when the automatic window awitch stopped working. My 2004 is a 6 speed manual. It does not have lift but it is rarley a problem. I enter uplifts on driveways at an angle. That normally works. In the rare occasion it does not, I do not go to that gas station. I am looking forward to having a lift function but I would classify it as " nice to have".

500 hp versus 560 is alot but the main difference is the sound of the new Lambos versus my 2004. It makes driving an exotic car more enjoyable. Naybe the dealer can change the exhaust ? My 2004 has been trouble free and quite an eye catcher.
Sorry I do noy know the chronology on changes made to the car. I only have the two data points I mention.

Price I do not dare to get into. A car like anything is worth what someone will pay for it. These also tend to vary on region.

    Good luck on your purchase.
