For those of us Newbies to this Augusts events in Monterey....
    Which events are a "must"???
Are any of the auctions worth going to?
There is obviously Concourso Italiano, and the Concourse d'Elegance.
    What else?

Go to at least one auction. If only to hear it. Its simply amazing to hear. Also make sure you get to Laguna Seca to watch one of the vintage F1 races. The sound and experience of that is something to behold. Plus at the raceway you can walk amongst all of the race cars that will be racing that day. The ability to look at them, talk to their owners and be amazed that the person really is taking that priceless piece of automotive history around a race-track filled with other cars.

On thurday at noon, a lot of the Pebble Beach cars will be stopping in downtown Carmel for lunch. The cars line up on the main drag (Ocean Ave I think). For around 2 hours you can walk up and down the row of cars and ogle to your hearts content. After lunch the owners return to their cars and a lot of them will talk about their cars with the crowd. Best of all this is FREEEEE!!.
Probably the only free event all weekend.

Thurs. Pebble Beach tour cars in Carmel
    Fri Concorso Italiano
    Sat Monterey Historics
    Sun Pebble Beach Concours

Use the evenings to take in an Auction.

The Concorso says they will be running an auction during the Concorso.

Erich is correct. Plus, this year you have the FCA National Meet immediately following. Total Ferrari overload....if it's possible to overdose on F-cars.
