Looking at possibly upgrading from my 360 spider to an '05 430 F1. What's to know about the first model year? Half hoping someone will talk me out of this, because the numbers look like they actually may work and I'm pretty happy with my 360. Why do I "not" want an '05 430 F-1 spider?

Okay, I want to hear why I want one, too. The improved safety matters greatly to me. Prefer the 360 looks, but like the 430 in grigio and yellow. Looking at one in each currently.

Piper, which ones you looking at? I have been debating between 360 and 430 as well...I was going to get a 01' Titanium on blk spider with 8500mi for about $82k, but the interior of the F430 just looks so much better...no timing belt to deal with, and I like the back end better as well, not to mention the 20% increase in horsepower...

The two I'm looking at are on cars.com, the grigio at $132k and the yellow at $169k, overpriced. It's the yellow 430 that got me interested, right here at FOW, but I just don't see paying another $40k for that car. The grigio with red interior looks great.

My 430 spider is an 05 with 11,000 miles and has no issues. It did have the headers replaced under warr.

The driving experience side of the F430 F1 is completely different than the 360. It's much faster, the suspension is tighter, the gearbox shifts quicker and more smoothly.

On the ownership side the 430's have a list just as long as the early 360's of recalls, campaigns and known trouble areas.

One of the more obvious issues is related to F1 system hydraulic leaks causing a myriad of symptoms and troubles.

I did a search on these boards and the internet and I do not find any reference to F430 F1 hydraulic leaks. Could you please point me to more definitive information beyond just your statement.........Thanks.......Steve

The James Bond theme NYE party we attended was decidedly mediocre, except for the fact that right outside the door, literally around the corner and 10 paces from where I had dinner, was a gleaming 2008 430 Spider. All night long we wandered back and forth between the variously themed rooms, always passing the 430 with onlookers having their pictures taken with the ferrari. Couldn't take it anymore. Made an offer on one. It's lowball and was scoffed at initially. We'll see in a couple weeks.

Anyone interested in a Beautiful 2002 TDF Spider, beige interior, 7500 miles, brand new and perfectly running Fabspeed performance package, airboxes to tips, dyno'ed at, I believe, 440hp? Need to look it up to be sure, around 365 to the wheels. If my offer on the '05 430 spider gets any consideration at all, I'll officially post the 360 for sale.

I was looking at 360s initially for my first car, but after driving the 430 I changed my mind. More modern, fit and finish is better, interior layout is far superior but I do prefer the shape of the 360. Go figure.
