I will be coming to Melbourne in March to watch the race. Is this the last race at Lake Albert? I saw the 2003 race there.

Hi Bart, I think you'll find they will always be at Lake Albert :D

It would be far more interesting at Phillip Island but I think the F1 boys may find the wind could cause some havoc :)

What I am asking is the GP moving from Lake Albert for 2006 because of some other thing which is happening in Melbourne in the year after next?

The Commonwealth Games are on in Melbourne in 2006. I believe the issue of the overlap in dates has been resolved. Sorry, I'm not sure in what way...but for SURE the GP date will change

It may be worth organising a spot for you and your significant other in the Ferrari F1 Club, open to ferrari owners only, which features "Pit Walks" and a personal appearance by Michael Schumacher, along with the obligatory catering and open bar.

Probably, they're hawking them in the Lance Dixon news letter. I know this will sound sacreligious, but went to the first GP, big corporate do, hazy memories of crawling between the corporate facility, restaraunt/bars on Fitzroy street, girly shows in town then repeating for 4 days and haven't been since. Done a couple of the vendor sponsored St Kilda Rd rooftop parties, but thats pretty much it. Been thinking of trying agin, with moderation this time and more sensible company :)

It'd be almost cheaper to enter a car in Porsche Cup / other support category and actually drive at the event!!, and get all competitor access included.

We get to run the race cars from pit lane, and chat to the F1 teams in "closed" conditions. Very informative usually.

Shame the Ferrari/Exotic categoey is dead now.

Unless somehting happens in the next few weeks, it might be the first time I've not worked the GP since I arrived in Oz.....

Not sure about Lotus. But there'll be Mini's or Karts too if Porsche is too hard.

How about sponsoring a car either fully or partially. I ran Simonsen in a Porsche this year (top 3 laptimes in an '03 car first time out. Missed o/all podium after being punted out from behind in final race) .........and he's available at the moment for it.

That way you can do the corporate schmoozing while sucking back a Chardonnay or 3.......

I'd rather be driving than schmoozing. Why pay for someone else to have all the fun?
