Spectacular. best of luck with the sale of this beautiful car. If they were legal to import into Canada I'd be all over it like cheap suit (or whatever the relevant saying is)!

Beautiful looking car! I haven't seen many in this color. Where is it located? Any issues with cam galling or other common problem areas?

    In Florida.

No, no such issues at all. In fact, I am not sure where you are getting info from, but these cars have been extremely reliable. I had an orange 05' that I drove many miles and sold in 07'....not one single issue. Missed it so much I bought this one right after....both cars were absolutely bullet proof. They have the Toyota Celica engine and gearbox that is a tried and proven combo to go many trouble-free miles.

I am only selling this one to make room for another one!! They are truly fantastic cars!

He's talking about cam lobe scoring. Some Elises have the issue while others don't. I don't remember what the culprit was.

Some Elises had problems with severe wear on the lobes of the intake cams. See pics attached. Example thread: Another reminder to check your cams! - LotusTalk - The Lotus Cars Community

The problem was due to the oil holes being drilled in the incorrect position on the affected cars. It is a fairly common problem, but not a huge deal because it is very quick to check (just pop the cam cover and look...maybe 15 minutes), and replacement cams are not terribly expensive even if it does need them. Certainly a minority of cars had the problem, but it seems common enough that it should be part of any inspection.

You are correct though, overall they have been very reliable and more trouble free than any low volume British car has a right to be! I can't think of a more fun car in this (or really any other) price range. As soon as I get some additional parking room, an Elise is on my short list.

Are you in North or South Florida? We go down Pensacola or Destin a few times per month, I may be interested to come check the car out if you are not too far away.

Nope.....NEVER had any issues with either one of my Elises...... and, neither has anyone I have personally known that had one to ever experience any issues. In fact, they have been about the most reliable and fun cars I have ever owned!!! There are quite a few out there with high miles that are still going strong. Again, it is a Toyota Celica engine and gearbox.

This one runs and drives fantastic. And, is in great shape. I am sad to see it go, but it is being replaced with another one.....an Exige S260 final edition.

I am in South Florida for anyone that wants to come see it.

I have already seen it. If I did not feel so comfortable in the S2000 I would be a buyer. This particular Elise is a great car, and Fred is very particular about how he keeps his sports cars. Whoever buys this one should have a great car to enjoy for many years!

Hi. I have been on FChat for some time and had lots of cars. I have a thread running about Hagerty not wanting to insure an Exige for me unless my daily driver is less than 5 years old. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/british/444527-hagerty-refuses-insure-2006-lotus-exige.html

May I ask who you use for insurance?

I am in Savannah Ga and sat in an Elise with the top off this past weekend at a cars n coffee event. Loved the car and definitely want one, but I may hold out for an Exige.

    You Elise looks amazing !

I use State Farm. I find it is better coverage (both car and liability), and in the long run less expensive. As far as I know, it can be insured with any major carrier.

Glad to hear that you are getting another Lotus.

I have one already so I'm not in the market but would add to the comments above and agree that this is one of the most reliable and easily maintained cars on the planet.

Over and above that is the joy of driving this car. It is simple and light and on a twisty road a work or engineering art.
